I know the B6 thing is well known, but somebody (thanks Jess) said something about marmite, and that gave me the idea about Brewer's yeast, which I had in the fridge. So I took 2 big spoonfuls and went to bed, and it worked (long LD right before I got up). I don't know if it has been talked about before.

Hmmz Interresting. You mean Marmite as in This Stuff?

Well on WikiPedia it sais this stuff is full of B Vitamins so that may be the cause....
Very Interresting. I tried taking Vitamin B6 B6 pills before falling asleep and one night after waking myself up after 5 hours of sleep taking the pills and falling back asleep, but to no avail since my recall was dramatically bad at the time. I'm now dramatically improving my dreamrecall s I may try this again if my dreamrecall is trainmed enough to remember at least one complete dream a night.

Now I don't know about the Brewers yeast. What brandname does it have? And do you know what the general name for this yeast precisely is? What's it made of?

Something like This? It's also full of Vitamins, Minerals and Amino acids and also Niacin so it may be very well possible.

That is an interesting idea. I make wine in my spare time and will often sample some of it while it is undergoing active fermentation.

I cannot say that it helps my dream recall much though. I've noticed a change in my sleeping patterns when I do this, but am pretty sure it is due to the CO2 in the active wine.
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...

      According to Wikipedia:

[Brewer's Yeast] is an excellent source of protein and vitamins, especially the B-complex vitamins. It is also naturally low in fat and sodium. Some brands of nutritional yeast, though not all, are fortified with vitamin B12, which is produced separately from bacteria.

So it may be B6 that's helping you LD anyway!

I really don't know what Marmite is; I thought maybe it was like Vegemite, which I thought was made out of yeast. But I haven't ever eaten either of those.

Yes that's it. There are various brands but make sure you get the debittered kind or else it is pretty nasty stuff.

      Marmite is like Vegemite.

      http://www.spurgeon.org/~phil/marmite.htm

It's a British delicacy (though half the people in Britain hate it.)

That sounds pretty cool. Maybe I'll try it if I can find some brewers yeast.

Actually, now that I've looked it up, the B vitamins (including vitamin B6) are usually extracted from yeast. So by eating Brewer's yeast you're essentially eating the unprocessed form of what you would take in a B6 supplement.

OK thanks for the info. I keep forgetting to take the yeast again! I'll try to remember tonight.

I have some Fleishmann (A brand, I doubt it's widespread or anything) "Bread Machine" yeast, and I'm wondering if it'll work as well. I mean, it is just yeast and "absorbic acid," so I can't imagine it being very different from brewer's yeast. However, I just want to make sure it's safe to eat...

Freshbrains! I hope I am not too late! Please see below:

Brewer's yeast: This inactive yeast is rich in protein and B vitamins, and it's used a nutritional supplement. It's a by-product of beer-making, which gives it a slightly bitter flavor. If you object to the bitterness, try nutritional yeast, which is made from the same yeast strain but grown on molasses. It's more expensive but has a more pleasant flavor. You can also buy debittered brewer's yeast. Brewer's yeast comes powdered (the most potent form), in flakes (best for health shakes), and in tablets. Don't confuse this with active forms of yeast, like the kinds bakers, brewers, and winemakers use. If you eat them, active yeasts will continue to grow in your intestine, robbing your body of valuable nutrients. Substitutes: nutritional yeast (better, nuttier flavor, lighter color) OR yeast extract.
