Alright a few questions just to see how similar everyone's WILD attempts are.

Concentration method(ex: HIT or counting):

If you count in what way do you?:

Do you concentrate on your breathing or control it?

Position:
I lie on my back. It's the only position I can really get comfortable enough in to not get annoyed by the way my body is positioned during the process.

Time most likely to attempt one(i.e. WBTB or afternoon naps):
It's 50/50. Either I attempt it at the time I would usually go to bed, or WBTB. I don't do afternoon naps.

Do you ingest something before attempt, if so what?(Milk, water, B6, caffeine)
Nothing.

Concentration method(ex: HIT or counting):
Eh, I don't really concentrate at all... I just lie there and let the imagery come. It's usually interesting enough for me not to be distracted. Besides, I make sure nothing is happening around me anyway.

Do you concentrate on your breathing or control it?
No, I try to avoid thinking of my breathing as much as I can, for reasons stated below.

What do you usually experience in transition phase?:
It usually begins with a choking sensation, if I am conscious about my breathing. I think that's because I notice my breathing getting shallower, and try to compensate but can't due to the onset of SP. That usually throws me off enough to foil the entire attempt, so I don't think about my breathing. After that, there's a multitude of sensations. Being flung in a direction is a common one. Also, a transitioning experience is just plain weird for me. Indescribable bodily sensations, like something that resembles lightheadedness. Many people mention vibrations, but I don't experience anything of the sort. After that weirdness, I usually see the dream coming at me as a strong HI that doesn't dissipate but just grows stronger and stronger. Alternatively, the dream might start with no imagery at all, just sound or 'knowing' what I'm doing somehow. Unfortunately, my WILD's seem fragile, and I can wake very easily from them, which is what has happened on all my attempts that have come this far. I suppose I am too eager to start the dream once I am in it, and I should really let the dream settle a bit more before attempting to actually do something.

WBTB

Nothing

Do you wear a sleep mask or listen to a certain music track?:

Sometimes Brown Noise

Concentration method(ex: HIT or counting):

61 Point Method

If you count in what way do you?:

*Breath In* 1 *Breath Out* I'm Dreaming

Do you concentrate on your breathing or control it?

It's impossible for me to concentrate on my breathing and not control it. I stop breathing all together if I do that.

What do you usually experience in transition phase?:

I never reach there

Time most likely to attempt one(i.e. WBTB or afternoon naps):

WBTB, I don't know the exact amount of time sleeping first, as I haven't tried it enough

Do you ingest something before attempt, if so what?(Milk, water, B6, caffeine)

Nothing yet, but once I figure out my best time to do WILD, I may experiment.

Do you wear a sleep mask or listen to a certain music track?:

nothing

Concentration method(ex: HIT or counting):

breathing deeply, counting with the patter 1 breathe in...2 breathe out...3 breathe in.... in order to relax then counting, but not really paying attention to breath, with I'm dreaming for WILD itself

If you count in what way do you?:

1...I am Dreaming, 2...I am dreaming, etc. I don't really count with my breath here, and just occasionally turn my attention to it to make sure I am still breathing deeply.

Do you concentrate on your breathing or control it?

read my answers to the last 2 questions

What do you usually experience in transition phase?:

I've only tried WILD a couple times, and only reached mild SP, so I don't know.

Back, though I once accidentally made it as far as the transition phase on my stomach. (I usually sleep on my stomach now for normal sleeping, and on my back for WILD attempts...)

Time most likely to attempt one(i.e. WBTB or afternoon naps):
WBTB.

Do you ingest something before attempt, if so what?(Milk, water, B6, caffeine)
Water, hot chocolate, and sometimes b6 or Calea.

Do you wear a sleep mask or listen to a certain music track?:
Sometimes sleep mask, sometimes earplugs, usually neither if it's quiet. I have a grudge against earplugs though, but that's a long story.

Concentration method(ex: HIT or counting):
Counting and breathing, and HIT if I'm getting any imagery, sometimes I don't.

If you count in what way do you?:
Breathe in without thinking about the breathing, and count "one... etc" and breathe out, "I'm dreaming". When I breathe out, I try to imagine myself sinking lower into my bed and relaxing.

Do you concentrate on your breathing or control it?
Uhhh... sorta like a weird mix between the two.

What do you usually experience in transition phase?:
Sometimes dream-scenes and imagery begin to intensify, other times they don't. But, I ALWAYS get his weird sensation of spinning up off my bed.

random, I switch a lot as I'm falling asleep too, just like normal

Time most likely to attempt one(i.e. WBTB or afternoon naps):
I usually use WILD when I'm first going to sleep at night.

Do you ingest something before attempt, if so what?(Milk, water, B6, caffeine)
I always have a twix and a coke icee before going to bed when attempting a WILD

Do you wear a sleep mask or listen to a certain music track?:
hells no

Concentration method(ex: HIT or counting
I just focus on my breathing, I picture my lungs filling and emtying rather than repeating "breathe in, breathe out"

What do you usually experience in transition phase?:
Usually nothing at all, QUIET BLACKNESS...I dont really like it. However the other day I had my first SP hallucination...It was strange though.

Usually on my back, but I've done it on my side also.

Time most likely to attempt one(i.e. WBTB or afternoon naps):

WBTB.

Do you ingest something before attempt, if so what?(Milk, water, B6, caffeine)

Bacchus-F, a korean energy drink. It has b vitamins, but probably not enough to make a difference. It's just tasty and wakes me up <3

Do you wear a sleep mask or listen to a certain music track?:

Nope.

Concentration method(ex: HIT or counting):

Nothing, really. If I concentrate on anything, I'll fail the attempt. 61 point technique is good for getting me relaxed in the beginning, though.

If you count in what way do you?:

I don't. Counting keeps me too awake and focused.

Do you concentrate on your breathing or control it?

Neither. I try not to, anyway. Breathing is just as distracting as counting.

What do you usually experience in transition phase?:

I'll fade in and out of consciousness, with the ins accompanied by a sort of jolt. There's always varying degrees of ringing in my ears, with an occasional really loud, almost painful whistle. That usually only lasts a few seconds, though. My body will feel really heavy, and I'll sometimes imagine my arms are in different positions, or that they're not there at all.

Position: Random, though I seem to get the furthest while laying on my right side. I try not to move after I get to a certain point.

Time most likely to attempt: WBTB, between 6 and 7 am

Do you ingest something? yes, part of my WBTB routine involves having a snack. Nothing in particular though.

Do you wear a sleep mask or listen to a certain music track? No.

Concentration method: I count, though I am considering trying a different method since I think this may be keeping me TOO alert.

If you count, in what way do you? I tend to count "1, I'm dreaming... 2, I'm dreaming" etc in time with my breathing.

Do you concentrate on your breathing or control it? Yes I do, up until the sleep paralysis point where I tend to feel like I'm suffocating. At this point I release control of breathing, which is the only way I've found to not feel like I am suffocating.

What do you usually experience in the transition phase? Furthest I have gotten is sleep paralysis... from there it is just silence and darkness. At this point I do not have any ideas of "What to do now?" heh... I'll get it eventually.

Time most likely.... WBTB (5 hours - yes, it is in the N-REM, just read one of my topics)

---Don't eat anything... but I always answer nature's call beforehand!----

---Absolute silence (except for wind and planes and cars)------

Concentration method: I imagine myself in a dream, and just stuff around in the daydream, while keeping the idea in my head that I am attempting a WILD.... works extremely well for me!

----Sometimes, though my dream method as stated above is what I use now-----

Transition phase: Throbbing!- starting from my toes and going to my head in a mexican wave! (I love the feeling). HI actually starts in this point, and photos start buzzing and morphing into a huge dream pic!

Nice poll.... hope people read it.

Early morning, or just before going to bed. Generally after a WBTB.

Do you ingest something before attempt, if so what?(Milk, water, B6, caffeine)
Not generally, but maybe about 60mg B6 on occasion.

Do you wear a sleep mask or listen to a certain music track?:
I'm tried some brainwave entrainment, but generally silence.

Concentration method(ex: HIT or counting):
Count

If you count in what way do you?:
1, I am dreaming...

Do you concentrate on your breathing or control it?
Concentrate on breathing, keep it regular

What do you usually experience in transition phase?:
Sosematic sensations, weird feelings, sometimes I hear these very loud noises... Hypnogogic images, but not so strong.

I am from South Africa

Position: On my back, lying on my side always gets distracting.

Time: Before I go to bed. Only because Im usually to groggy when I wake up in the middle of the night.

Ingest: Sometimes 200 Mgs of B-6

Mask/music: I listen to a little music beforehand.

Concentration: Something I lack. I try by counting to 4, breath in/out every 4.

Count: I try by counting to 4, breath in/out every 4.

Breathing: See above.

Experience: Vibrations, very slight HI, and a Rolling sensation, like lying on a raft in a wavy pool.

Interesting poll. I'm amazed : I'd have bet most people WILDed on their stomach !

Position:
Stomach !

Time most likely to attempt one(i.e. WBTB or afternoon naps):WBTB or just before sleeping

Do you ingest something before attempt, if so what?
Nothing. Though when there's a banana at home, i'll eat it.

Do you wear a sleep mask or listen to a certain music track?:
Ah nope.

Concentration method(ex: HIT or counting):
It depends. If I feel like losing consciousness I'll just repeat in my head : "I'm lucid dreaming". Which is kinda hard because it always ends up like "I'm loosing dreaming", and I have to correct it, thus keeping me conscious.
If I feel too 'conscious' (too often) I just try to loose consciousness with a kind of daydream, or telling myself I'm going to sleep. So no concentrention tricks.

Do you concentrate on your breathing or control it?
No. It makes me stay too awake for a WILD.

What do you usually experience in transition phase?:
I'm not sure if I've reached that place yet, though this morning, I felt vibrations, as if I was rocking back and forth very swiftly while sinking.

Are you dreaming?
Maybe, but don't sleep your life away.

Thats weird before I made this survey I was sure pretty much everyone would do it on their back.
Im probably gonna try a new position and see if it helps at all.
