You know, there was a time not long ago when there was no such thing as Lucid Dreaming, and yet people still worked on their dreams.

Perhaps Lucidity is a stage one arrives to while in the process of working on one's Dreams. But you seem to want to go directly to Lucid Dreaming. Well, have you perfected your dream recall? Well, no. You complain that you rarely dream.

And then you don't give us an idea of your present dream issues -- what is happening? If you are presently having reoccurring dream motifs, which indicate that you are at something of a psychological impass in your Dreams, then you may be 'stuck' in a pre-lucid stage of development until you address these problems.

And you don't have to be lucid in order to work on your dreams. You can use suggestion. For instance, you have a dream in which you suppose you responded badly and made a wrong choice, well, then you set up a program whereby 7 or 8 times a day you relax and auto-suggest or auto-hypnotize yourself to make more positive and agreeable dream choices in the future. And it works.

As an example -- lately I had been getting along better with my father in my dreams, but several weeks ago I had something of a gratuitous argument with him. Well, that seemed like backtracking, after we had been doing so well, and so I put that on my 'suggestion list'. So just the other night I had a dream where my father was one of the Dream Characters, and he made an unreasonable request, and so I answered him back in the negative, but then the suggestions kicked in and I rather complied with my father's wishes. Suggestion and auto-hypnosis do have an influence upon our dreams.

so work on your dream recall and work on your dreams in general, and lucidity will come along when the entire process is ready for Lucidity.
