I'm sure other people have realized this, but for some reason when you fail techniques in the morning you seem to have a higher chance of getting a DILD when you go back asleep. My mind needs to wander to fall asleep, but I will always wake up at 5 AM before falling back to sleep, just for the hell of it. Sometimes I will try WILD, but other times I try techniques that are probably impossible for me to do like FILD or VILD, since my mind needs to wander to fall asleep, since I'm so tired and maybe it won't matter. 2 nights ago, I woke up at 5 and tried to WILD. After 20 minutes nothing had happened and I figured it was because I moved my fingers tons, so I tried to VILD. I was still visualizing my dream scenario after 30 minutes, until I gave up and fell asleep. I had a DILD at around 7:20 AM. Last night, I woke up at 5 AM again and tried to FILD, but I never even really got to the part of raising my hand in the air and fell asleep immedietly. I guess since I was still sort of thinking about FILD at the time I had a DILD at around the same time as the night before.

It seems really cool, all you have to do is fail a method! I encourage other people to try this and see what happens. I'm not going to try it tonight, though, I want to see if it's possible for me to WILD, since my mind needs to wander to fall asleep. So far I've only got blobs of colour, no sp or sounds.

I've never had a DILD by failing an technique but like you I also need to let my mind wander. Every night I get hypnoitic imagery and sometimes I can her voices and conversations and sounds. It is like little dream snippets but they are not true dreams and if I try to interact with it, it loses its dream like affect and I wake up a little. I dont know if I am on the verge of WILD or not but I have fun with it evernight as I fall asleep. anyway, you kind of brought this to mind when you said that your mind needs to wander.

That same exact thing happens to me! Aren't those near-dreams fun?

My guess would be that simply thinking about lucid dreaming before you fall asleep increases your chances of attaining lucidity while you dream. I know that I've experienced that in the past, without actually attempting any sort of LD induction method. Probably similar to the way that things we've seen or exerpienced during the day can work themselves into our dreams.
Well life is short, so love the one ya' got, 'cause you might get run over or you might get shot.

Hehe it worked again. Last night I woke up at 6 instead of 5 (so I'd to be less tired for WILD), I went pee, then I went into my bed to get ready for WILD.... and I fell asleep. I had an amazing lucid dream, I didn't do much except swim. It felt not the same as real life, but it felt better! Then, I woke up, my mind wandering (but thinking of the dream) and I fell back asleep into yet another lucid dream. About 25% way through the dream, I had a REAL awakening, but since my mind was wandering but still thinking about the dream I managed to fall back asleep in seconds back in the dream still lucid. I managed to do the two things I wanted to do, write a lucid song and perform open heart sugergy. Unfortunately, my lucid song was the same as my songs in real life.... and I couldn't find the heart in open heart sugery (and I kinda did it to a random DC I just found lol).

if im REALLY tired i can fall asleep without my mind wandering but what doesnt work for me is i cant stay still. I have to shift around on my bed for like 15-20 min before i can just sleep so wild is really hard.

I need to sleep with my arms on my chest (like a vampire as badassbob said) and since you can't do that during WILD, it's hard for me too. I need to keep my hands at my sides and my fingers constantly want to move.
