I am no expert on LDs, but i have a theory.

I think that most people dont go lucid in every dream because their mind is just not in the "focused" REM
these are the kind of dreams you just go along with.

So, the goal is to wake yourself up enough to have more focus in REM without actually waking up.

If you have been doing WBTB for a while just STOP. No alarm clocks.

Your body should be somewhat used to waking up early, so your body clock will be accustomed to leaving deep sleep early.

Perhaps your body will be ready to wake up when you normally do, giving you more "awake" like focus.

It was kind of hard to explain, but if you know what i mean just holla back.

Or maybe you might wake up at your usual time, thus, without the alarm clock you will probaly remember your dream, so you could do DILD easily.
I will some day legally change my name to:

"Simquatti Charles Moses Solomon Gunther Schmupak, Magical Ninja Reverend LXXIV"

      Lucid Count: 7
