If I'm understanding your problem correctly, it sounds like you need to work on increasing your Lucidity once you've become aware that you're dreaming.

Lucidity can begin with fairly low-level awareness. You're distantly aware that you're dreaming, but unless you do something trigger a higher level of Lucidity, you won't have any control of that dream.

Performing a reality check is a good way to achieve high Lucidity. Everyone has different things that work for them - if you think you might be dreaming, you can examine at your hands, talk to a dream character, block your nose and try breathe through it, etc.

Doing a reality check will make the dream much more clear and stable, and you'll be able to start practising control. There's a great list of reality checks here:

There is the Propaganda Promises about Lucid Dreaming, and then there is actual Lucid Dreaming.

You have gone into Lucid Dreaming with all sorts of misconceptions.

Well, forget all that crap.

Do what you can do. Lucid dreaming is being aware while in a dream that one is dreaming. That's it. That's all.

So what does this allow you to do? Well, it allows you to make conscious choices. Not that you will be able to control anything, anymore than you have control over your Waking World. But you do have choices.

In my Lucid Dreams I choose to Meditate sometimes. Sometimes I Levitate and Fly... always to a new and interesting Dream Scene as my Higher Dream Mind decides for me. Sometimes I try out various Spiritual Prayers and Mantras -- all the famous and traditional Prayers and Mantras as they are invested with much Power from cumulative Traditions and hundreds of Saints on this Side and on the Other.

So simply Focus on your Lucidity. Look at your hands. And then make a simple Choice. Just looking around at the dream details -- the ground at your feet, the scenary out in the distance. Or unlock the details of the Dream Scene by REMEMBERING. Remembering is really cool. Almost any access to Memory unlocks a floodgate. Think to yourself, "when was the last time I was here?" and your Dream Memory -- well, you try it and you will see what I mean.

Anyway, start small. Don't expect much. Take Lucidity for what it is, and that should be enough.

Remember, the Lie never was real, so you have not lost a thing.

Im not even at the state where i can do anything at all, like it seems as if ive had all my dreams and i remember them in the seconds before waking up kind of thing, you got it right that im distantly aware, but i dont have any control whatsoever even over my thoughts let alone what happens

Im not sure what you mean with the lie ? As ive said above, I dont have any control yet at all

No offense, but I can't believe you said that, it's like contradicting the point! How can you say "Not that you will be able to control anything, anymore than you have control over your Waking World."? You can fly can't you? The only limit is your imagination, don't be thinking that you can't control anything more than reality, there would be no excitment over it would there?

I hope I misunderstood, maybe you were trying to describe how little you can do when you first learn?

I must be in a funny mood today, because I'm going to agree with Leo again. Sometimes it needn't be about exerting huge power over your dreams, but just focusing on them and being lucid rather than getting carried away in some mad adventure. I can definitely see the appeal in just walking around and enjoying your lucidity in a complex and beautiful dreamscape.

Of course, I think every new lucid dreamer wants to have a few adventures like flying before he can get to enjoying the less fantastical stuff.

I think this is definitely true.

One of the best things I ever did in a Lucid Dream was pulling a leaf off an oak tree.

I held it up to the sunlight, and I could see tiny veins running through it.

I crushed the leaf in my hand and held it to my nose and it smelled, well... exactly like a leaf. Green.

Rather than having epic controlled adventures, I think its little things like this that make you appreciate how truly incredible a Lucid Dream is.

I totally agree with you on that, tai.

About what I said before, I ment to be saying that you can do more in lds than in reality, so I didn't exactly agree with Leo on that quote.

Most of us are still learning just like you are, but if you can tell us a bit more maybe we can offer some ideas.

Are you doing anything at the moment to work on your Lucid Dreaming? Are you keeping a dream journal or doing reality checks during the day? Do you remember your dreams? Have you tried any of the techniques like WBTB?

These things are not always necessary to have an LD, but it will give us an idea of where you are...

yes i do the waking thing an i am remembering more and more dreams now, i try some reality checks but i dont keep a journal.

i almost had it the other night, saw very clear images of faces in the blue color at first, then very vivid scenes of random stuff, sort of like flashing in and out of a dream, but then sum1 in my house woke me up
going to try it again tonight, Oh ya, that 1 was also at the very beginning of the night I have had trouble with waking up 2 much after my rest period before i try WILD, so i tried not even turning the lights on and just eating sandwich in the dark.... I passed out after that, Today I will do the same thing mostly but i will try a strong brew of coffee.

this is how effective has been the lies and propaganda about Lucid Dreaming, that even after people write in and complain that in actual practice, nothing works, that the Lies are reasserted to disprove the Actual Experience.

NO, one cannot do anything one imagines in a dream. If one has mastered Dream Flying, then one can fly, but only to a point, as it depends on having certain energies available from within the Dream. One can imagine certain dream characters changing or disappearing, or just going away, but that does not mean they will. One may imagine talking to God, but this may not change any of God's plans at all, and we may be left at whatever lower Spiritual Realm we as yet occupy.

In short, Dreams are Real and have a good measure of the fixity and continuity of other real venues... yes, with a bit more variability and some more options than we have in the Waking World, but nonetheless there is a degree of objectivity in these Subjective Experiences -- some objects will simply remain fixed.

And so it is that we may find ourselves in a Dream Room filled with Dream Characters. We may leave the room. Or we may stay in the room. We might be able to effect some changes within the room, that is, apply our person dream powers to modify to some extent the objects of the room, but only within the specifications of our developed dream skills. We cannot do everything we imagine. We are still stuck with the Room and those Dream Characters. We must live in relation to that Room and its Characters much as in the Real World. We can leave, or we can stay, but we can't just blink it away.

Now, those people who do insist that they SHOULD be able to do any imaginable thing in their Dreams, while they can't say that they ever have (or don't have enough imagination so that they have run into any difficulties yet) these people are simply projecting forward their Materialist Beliefs. They see their Waking Existence as Fixed and Real. But their Subjective Experience is entirely Atheistic and Nihilisitic. No Spiritual Content. No Collective Consciousness. Subjectivity is reduced to simple Imagination. This is a Belief System. it is a Faith that they live by. It just is not true.

There is a great deal of Objectivity in our Subjective Experiences. We cannot wish it away or imagine that it is not there.

Indeed, I soloed when I was sixteen years old and had a Private Pilots Licence on my 18th Birthday. I still have it... it is in with my papers somewhere.

Nowadays there are so many more options for those who want to really fly. There is hang gliding and Parasailing, and then there is the Ultralight Recreational Class of flying. But in my day, if one wanted to really fly, then one had to go off to the Air Fields and take flying lessons in actual airplanes.

and there is a great deal of carryover into my Dreams. The Swooping and Banking Style retains from Reality to Dreaming. Indeed, the same swooping and banking can be experienced in Skiing, skating, motorcycling. Indeed, if I could compare Dream Flying with anything from Real Life, it would be to say it is most easily described as 3 Dimensional Skating -- going forward, or backward, with spins while turning and banking, but add in rising and falling, and THAT is dream flying.

And, yes, either in waking or sleeping, I got myself some pretty good skill sets.

Leo I am still having trouble even having a lucid dream

Yeah it's not really about you Leo, that's nice to know but it's off topic.

My message was only encouragement by the way, there is no limit, you CAN control everything, only you need practice, faith, skill etc. It's not propaganda it's a possibility.

Sounds like you're doing well, Titan. I'm sure you'll be Lucid in no time!

How did the coffee work out for you? I've tried it before, and found that green tea is actually better for a WILDing, if you're doing it with WBTB. The caffiene dose is milder, so it keeps the mind active but still lets the body go to sleep.

Well actually you are lucid dreaming, you just have a low level of lucidity, and need to work on that. Try stabilizing using Billybob 001's method for increasing dream reality. Having a stabilized more real Lucid dream should help. Also start small. Don't try teleporting to Xenon, or even flying at first, but instead start with something simpler, like hovering, and build up to flying, or think when I go around the corner I will find a giant pie, instead of summoning the giant pie to appear in front of you.

I decided against the coffee I think I need to get the timing right first and get at least 1 ld with no help before I go around using extra stuff havent had anything like that since then tho

I dont think I have any lucidity, i really have no willpower over my dream, it just doesn't feel like I am awake you know ? If I could actually do anything like you said I would be doing it !
