ok, ive ben trying WILD for a couple nights now. everywhere i read it always recommends yuo stay awake for a half hour to an hour before going back to bed. now, im not the best sleeper in the world and i absolutely cannot have any light (except for my red light) or i will have trouble falling back asleep. i usualy get up, go to the bathroom, grab a small snack, and spend maybe 10 mins or so straigtening out my mind and focusing on the task ahead. i do not see why it is so stressed that you need to stay awake for an hour or so. i really think if i made myself do this, i will not be able to go back to bed and feel that feeling where your body is completely relaxed like it feels when you're going BACK to bed. i guess for some people its best, but for me i find 15 minutes or so to be sufficient enough to clear my head of grogginess without waking my body up too much. does anyone else experience this?

Yeah you don't need to full hour, myself I'm wide awake from the moment I get up (unfortuately I can't recreate this when I actually get up for school ) so I only take like 5 minutes. Take as long/short as you need.

Wow, because all of the tutorials said to stay up for one hour to an hour and a half, I never tried WBTB because I could never fit the time into my strict sleep schedule. I usually have a hard time going back to bed after I wake up during the night and doing somthing (Although I haven't tried WBTB, I've had instances of being awake for a time in the middle of the night). Now that I know this, I could easily slip WBTB into my sleep schedule even if it's a schoold night!!!.
      Thanks

Yeah, do what works best for you. I only stay up for 30 min. at the most. More than that and I'm up for hours. Usually it's more like 15 minutes. I'm not positive but I think the whole hour to hour and a half thing has to do with syncing up with your REM cycles.

If that's true, that the Hour awake is important becase it has to do with REM-cycles then you can always do Trance-induction techniques.

There are serveral Topics about Relaxation & getting to sleep fast.
The one that works best for me is the ''Reversed Blinking''-technique: it allows me to fall asleep pretty fast ANYtime. I migh try it tonight while attempting WILD as well
