maybe it goes beyond the 'acronym' definition - but I figured this out last night and I love it - it's like using the school bell as a reality check - insead of an annoying alarm, in this sense you can do up to 14 RCs (or more if you move the letters around for more RCs - if you can tell me! ) in this sense - you can remember 14 RCs in your head w/o tearing out a piece of paper with 'crytic' language on it taht others can see "Reality Checks": Levitation/Flying, Mirror.....people see that and if i were them, i'd think i was 'psychotic...' they won't have a clue what you're doing if it's in your head!
REFLICT W/O PIG CLAU*
R: Reading (test) --> (see W below, also) The reading test is where you read something, anything, and when you look back it looks in every way and shape the same - same color, font, size, etc...
E: Do any electronical things (or things like cell phones with BATTERIES) malfuntion in anyway - great RC because they malfuntion anyway - just ask yourself if it broke down for a reason in that case...
F: Flying/Levitation - can you fly or levitate? If you can levitate an item with your mind, you are dreaming - esp. if it's yourself!
L: Lightswitch (be ethical with this one) if you are in your room or someplace by yourself and you are allowed to 'play' with the lightswitch - turn it on then off or vise versa....if there is no delay or anything like that then you are awake (sometimes they might work in dreams like they do while you are awake...which is why there are multiple RCs here....and it makes it a habit so it becomes second nature in dreams - and you can only use certain RCs depending on where you are...so it gives you practice for different dream situations!
I: (1st I): Imagine - if you imagine that a purple monkey comes in the door and it happens - you are most definately dreaming - if you keep imagining and it doesn't happen - u are probably awake - usually when you do imagine something - at least in my dreams - it happens...
C: Common Sense --> is ANYTHING out of place - is your friend name Amy instead or Aaron or Amber? Look for at least 5 things that look out of place - even though it looks normal to you, because in dreams you could have very normal dreams but until you get detailed do you catch these things... 5 things that look 'odd' such as even a shirt being the wrong color, do you get what i mean here?
T: (Track back - Backtrack but B doesn't work - or the Memory test) : do you remember waking up this morning? Do you remember how you got here?! <--- this one is a 'trigger' in dreams!! -- if you don't remember anything past what you are doing now...then unless you have amnesia or something weird, you are usually dreaming - or 1/2 asleep...
W/: Watch (use with R above and when it beeps, check your watch...)
O: (Observation of Self - S didn't work for Self-Observation): A lot of times if you look at your body in dreams it will be deformed or none existent when and if you actually look down - sometimes not which is why there's more than 1 RC....Can you even see your nose in front of you? etc...
P: (Penetration of Matter) can you?
I: Irregularites - a little like the Common sense one, but is anything specific off, such as what time you are at school even though you 'know' you are supposed to be here? I'm in the Car, Bus, Plane, etc..., but what Car.... am i in - is it going where i need or is it going without even stopping (if it does that you are usually dreaming - and if you imagine it stopping it probably will - usually imagining = happens in dreams...)
G: Gravity test: Throw something - does it follow the rules of gravity? come back down at all? disappear in sky? or float? etc...
CL: CLear (Clarity) - Can you do the following 3 things (more if you can think of them) speak, think, see clearly? At least with me, these are DReam Signs becasue if my eyes 'hurt' - in a sense- or i'm laying on my face, i'll have wierd, 'i can't see' dreams...or if i'm really tired at night i can't 'think' clearly in dreams....or if i have some weird drainage or my throat hurts, i'll have screaming dreams because my brain interpretes into teh dream ... because i feel it hurts, i have dreams where my 'voice' doesn't 'work'.......do you get the idea here?
A: Ask (DCs) questions...usually their answers will give you an indication of whether or not you are asleep .... i don't have a true indicator yet, but for starters, if you question if you are dreaming or not, just get in the habit of maybe simply just asking people for the time....and this will in one way or another transfer into dreams ---- what i used to be able to do was convince DCs they were asleep - coolest thing - but this can obviously happen when actually dreaming unless you want to scare teh crap out of a stranger or worse, someone you know...the basis of this one is to get into the habit of approaching others (but be weary and use common sense when talking to other people - strangers - which is why i say 'ask them the time' - hide your watch 1st and make sure they didn't see you hide it or that you had it for the 20 mins even b4 that...
U: U R dreaming if you doubt that you are - this is very helpful (the only time you could doubt you are asleep is when you are - otherwise you are awake - keep saying this to yourself over adn over so you don't 'by pass' a lucid opportunity...."If I ever doubt that i am really awake, then i am asleep because only in a dream would i doubt this..." (see my post....)
Of course - if you cant use them all use only a few adn if you only have 5mins, then use 5mins worth of RCs...
*For those who don't know, w/o stands for 'without'
