Sounds like a hypnic jerk. I do this all the time too.

Sometimes when I am about to sleep, I imagine myself in a fight. If the person I imagine that I am fighting hits me, I sometimes get a muscle jerk in the region he hit me. It's happened to me like 6 times

I tend to trip and fall and that's when I jerk and wake up. It's a weird sensation.

Is this when you get that falling sensation and wake up before you hit the ground?

I used to get this thing when I fall off a cliff and wake up

Well, kinda. The hypnic jerk that we're talking about happens as you're drifting off to sleep during the HI.
When you fall off a cliff and wake up before you hit the ground is probably during REM when you're actually dreaming.

I get that all the time. Sometimes I'm imagining playing soccer, and I kick with my RL foot, snapping me out of the trance. Once, I was imagining running down the stairs, and seeing my cat there, so I was going to move my feet so I wasn't going to step on her tail. I moved my RL feet again, and thought "Oh yeah I'm trying to fall asleep..."

Sometimes when I would fall asleep in the living room (and it normally only happned here, not my room or anything) I would dream of walking up stairs, and trip.

Then the jerk (felt like I jumped) would wake me up. Weird

one time i had this "mini-dream" where i was a bowling pin. and when i got hit by the bowling ball i did a hypnic jerk.

One time i was dreaming and someone threw a basketball at my face, my hands came up in front of my face and i scrunched back like i was about to get hit. I woke up as i was reactiing

The last time that happened to me I was on a rock near a pond and I lost my footing, woke up, and had a sudden jerk. I love when that happens.

Yeah, I experience this all the time, especially when I try to WILD. Like when the HI starts and you drift away further and further and you get the numbness and you'r thinking great progress and then BAM. my arm stretches away just like I'm gonna hit someone in the face. >.O
Now that sucks, disturbs the whole WILD and i turn around mad and try to go to sleep.
