      Creating a dreamsign

Ok I had this idea, and I am not really sure if it would work but I think it might. Most people write in a dream journal to help them remeber a dream. So what if you picked something simple you want as a dream sign, then every time you write in your dream journal you say you saw the sign. Maybe you can even picture it in your head when you write it down.

If you did it with every single dream, and you did it long enough, you might just start seeing the sign for real. If it worked and you kept doing it you might start seeing it in every dream you have. Then you would have a sign in every dream, that you never see in real life that is easy to notice. You might just be able to become lucid all the time.

The Lucid Dream subject is far from being fully studied.

      It's worth a shot.

Do you mean like, for example, write down we saw a tiger in each of our dream entries (even if we didn't). And then we might see that tiger (or other DS) eventually in a real dream and do a reality check?

Yea, I know I forget most of my dreams. Write it down all the time might trick your mind into thinking its in all your dreams. I don't know why your mind repeats dream signs in your dreams, but if you think you always have a tiger in your dream, maybe your dreams will keep on repeating even if it wasn't really there in the first place heh.

Hmm, I dont know if I can trick myself like that, unless I write it while Im still half asleep, in that case I know what you mean. I, personally dont think it'd work, but its definately worth a shot, let me know how it turns out!

      Well that's how RCs work.

As long as you are consistent with it it'll turn out effective, no matter what you decide to use as a sign.

actually that's kinda stupid. why take something simple and turn it into something difficult just to say you have an original idea. just write your dreams down, take note of something that is common in your dreams, and WOW. you got yourself a dreamsign. just do a reality test everytime you see it and there you go.

this would work best if it was something that you often saw or have to deal with in real life...like say, your computer, or your dog etc. or something that represents something that is often on your mind...tho i think i have to agree with Paperdoll on this subject, but hey, i geuss ifyou've written down 100's of dreams and cant find a common theme, maybe this is the answer...

Best dream sign I can get is something that has repeated 10 times. 10 times out of all the dreams I have had in the last 5 months I been using a dream journal is really not that great. And then the first 5 or 6 times it happened I didn't even notice it was a dream sign.

Say you remeber 3 dreams a night, and theres about 30 days each month. Thats 90 dreams a month, 450 in 5 months. That would mean my best dream sign happens .02% of the time.

Maybe dream signs work for you but .02% just doesn't cut it for me. If you could have a dream sign thats in even half of your dreams you would be far better off, and it would make things a lot easier.

This might work for ppl that are just starting out learning to LD but as for the experienced one's... they most-likely already have a DS and wouldn't want to change it. Just too damn hard to do. If it's not broke... don't fix it.

I hope its okay for me to express my opinion to this topic. Arlic I see where your focuse is in reference to this type of sign creation. I believe your insight is pretty good. Dream Manifestation is what this concept is really referred to. I've read about this before. You can pretty much manifest a dream sign, within any dream if you think about it enough times in the real world. It's all in relation to the human habitual train of thought process. And manifesting things to conjure up in reality. If you think you're going to catch the common cold everytime it gets cold outside then your chances have increased 10 fold because you believed this to be true. Thats pretty much I would analyze what you're trying to put here. Good Thought.

But the only thing I could see wrong with this is you really don't have to go to those extremes considering the process could be long and dragged out. When you can just practice MILD's. It's pretty much the same thing and it would be far less frustrating in the long run.

If you already write in a dream journal, its not really much work. Its like an extra 5 seconds max. If it didn't work I don't think it would hurt any, but if it did work could help a lot.

And yea it is kind of like a MILD, except some people find writing stuff down to work better than just thinking about it. Also going to long term results, want all your dreams to have them without even thinking about it.

Could also try Doing MILD telling yourself you will always see the same thing every time you go to sleep, except I thought writing it down might be easier. Though I guess it depends on the person. Might even work better if you did both.
