I wonder why this works... It couldn't possilby be the combined effects of B6 from the banana combined with WBTB and autosuggestion, now, could it? :) Anyways good idea. That is a very logical technique, and totally makes sence scientifically that it works, unlike many of the techniques you see which mainly only worked because the person tricked the subconscious to think it would, and then failed after two nights. As Borat would say, "hi five". :bravo:

Otherwise, does that mean this can have the same effects as having a Vitamin B pill? We don't have any bananas... :D
Basically, but vitamin B pills often have much more vitamin B than a couple bananas, which can cause very dark and depressed almost nighmarish dreams with tons of FAs. So its good for a chance to induce LDs, but from what I have heard it can be not-so-fun. Though I personally haven't tried it, as I prefer to induce by myself, though eating a couple bananas doesn't seem like cheating, so when my mom buys bananas I'll try this technique.

I think it is because it is a multi-B vitamin, and only contains 50mg of B6, and has other B-vitamins too (I would guess this balances it out a bit, causing less extremeness). Pure B6 pills which contain like 200-300mg of B6 are what cause those experiences generally because they have so much.

Hey everyone, this is my first post, I did have good results with this, so I thought I should share.
First off, I got my 6th LD using this technique. I ate a banana before going to sleep, and although I wasn't actually planning on waking up, I had an errand to run at 5am (crazy, I know), so after sleeping for aprox 5 hours, I was up for an hour and a half. I came home fairly tired, and went straight back to bed. I then counted in my head with each inhaled breath, and with each exhaled breath thought to myself "you are dreaming". One thing you may want to note is that I have never had a WILD and I only had a general understanding on how to WILD at the time of trying this, although what I did was similar.
The Dream
At some point I drifted off into my imagination. I was considering how hard it would be to outrun cops (not a criminal, just watched a movie the day before), and at some point my imagination actually seemed to evolve into a dream where I was running from the cops. I then wondered what would happen if I pulled into a driveway and if the car would be recognized. The cops drove by, and forgetting about them I walked into the backyard of the driveway I had pulled into. It was a fairly regular backyard, maybe 50x60 feet, and there were toys scattered everywhere. About 10 feet in front of me, I saw what appeared to be a big blue... blob. Thinking that was wierd I looked closer and just made out feathers, it then started to unfold, and I realized it was a giant blue bird with its wings over its head. They folded out fully and the bird was aproximately the same size as me. In the dream I thought to myself, "wow, this must be a blue pheonix... I didn't even realize pheonix's existed in the real world". Then as soon as I thought that, I went... duh, this is a dream.
Ok, let me cut in with a quick note. Although it seemed like I had this dream and then found something false with the reality which gave me the lucid dream, it is important to note that I was in the LD within about 3 minutes of falling asleep. In case you are curious now, I'll finish the dream.
Realizing that I was lucid dreaming, first thing I was like... ok, this is awesome, but don't become so exited you wake up! I was aware that everything felt so real, so I moved my arm. It felt... too real, I thought that in order for it to feel this real, it must be moving in bed, so I decided I shouldn't move my physical body in the dream too much yet. I then looked around at my surroundings and realized that parts were not clear. I loudly said "Increase Lucidity", and my vision warped! I can't describe the effect perfectly, but it really was amazing. My vision became so clear, if felt like every part of my vision I would focus on, was seen through a telescope. Yet at the same time, it wasn't zoomed in. Another thing that happened, was I felt like my skull or brain was twitching for like 3 seconds right after saying it. My vision was so clear, that out of curiosity I started to count the blades of grass in the yard just to test my vision, after easily counting 10 of them I stopped. I felt like I would rather be somewhere else, but, I still didn't want to move. So I thought it would be a great time to test the spinning technique. I then tried to only spin my vision, without spinning my body, afraid I would wake myself up if I moved. I strained to hard trying to move my vision without moving my body, went to blackness for a moment, and then woke up. The first thing I noticed when I woke up, was that my arm was in the same spot as when I fell asleep... so worrying about that did somewhat mess the LD up. I was really surprised it hadn't been moving though and I'm not 100% sure it didn't, either way it felt extremely real. I'm assuming my body should have been paralyzed by sleep, but would it be paralyzed completely after just 10-15 minutes of laying down?
Anyways, this success was 5 days ago, I haven't had another LD yet, but I haven't done the full process of waking up either. It is 12:24 and I'm going to go test it again right now, I'll keep everyone posted on how it works out. Anyone else have success with this? Please share!

I did it again last night, set the alarm, got 5 hours of sleep, wrote some e-mails and stuff, went back to sleep, and... it worked again!
This is the 4-5th time I have tried this, it worked both times that I actually got out of bed for a while.
Anyone else have results/tips?
Neat-o! This really seems to work! I hope it will for me too, I'm not that good at lucid-dreaming unfortunately and the bad part is that I'm also a bit lazy, but this seems easy enough. Going to try it tonight... Good thing that my dad loves bananas, so there's no chance that there aren't any bananas in the house :chuckle:

Unfortunately, possibly because I've never done WBTB before, it took me close to three hours to fall asleep (I have to work on relaxation techniques). The good thing is that when I eventually fell asleep, I had my second lucid dream ever! It was dream-induced, which I assume is supposed to happen. Am I correct? If so, I don't see how it's surefire, but it worked for me.
The weird thing was that I had about 7 FAs in one dream period (and was lucid each time)! What was also strange was that I felt really tired after each FA, just as if I really had woken up. However, the dreams were not that vivid (although staring at my hand made a little improvement) and definitely didn't seem like real life when I woke up. Is this normal and are there other ways to improve the vividness? I'll be sure to try this method again tonight.

I'm completly amazed.
I ate a banana before bed and took a B multivitamin and had one of the best LD ever last night!
This LD was also an important one for the following. Even though I have been keeping a dream journal for the first time ever since I joined here about a week ago and have been reinforcing the thought of LD with RC and such, this is the closest together that I have had LD. I had my last one on the 21st of Nov.
Also there has been an obstacle in my LD experience for a while. I would only become lucid if I was the only one in the dream scene, usually a room. This time there was plenty of dream characters present. I had much more control over my actions and everything was very deliberate by me. I tried to pass my hands through some mirror like glass but felt resistance but that was ok. Everything else that I wanted to do in this area I was able to do.
I have been having Lucid dreams on and of for about 15 yrs but never with this degree of control.
Very cool indeed. I don't know if it was the autosuggestion or what but the banana worked for me too. :shock:

I tried it again tonight, but it didn't work. I don't think I kept thinking about LDing when I went back to bed, though. I just got EWLD from the library, so I am eager to practice MILD and WILD.
I ate a banana last night before bed, and it might have helped a little but nothing too different than usual. I didn't have much more luck then last night. Of course, I didn't get up and walk around so that might have been it :P
Well, this is something I did yesterday. At night I made a bananna smoothie with Milo and milk. I didn't make this because of what I read hear, I just like the taste. Then I went to bed at around 1am. Woke up at around 5 or 6am and went for a surf. I got home at 8am and went to sleep and had my first LD ever. This is sort of like that technique, but I didn't know about this technique when i did that. But I will definately try that technique tonight!
Hmm. I wasn't trying to do this technique, but I did end up doing it inadvertantly at a friend's house friday. I had a banana in the evening (a couple hours beffore bed), and then in the middle of the night I by chance woke up to pee (WBTB aspect). I didn't get a Lucid, but my dreams were vivid that night.
i've only done it twice and both of them were LDs.
I tried the banana thing last night. I remembered the dream, which is better than usual, and it was in better detail than usual, but no lucidity...
Im trying this now. I ate a banana, and now its 3am, I went to bed at 9pm, I'm just about to try and go back to sleep.
i tried it, ate a banana at 11 woke up at 4 then stayed up about 15 minutes then fell back asleep but nothing happened.
i did this again last night and became lucid, but i then woke up.
Yeah, I didn't become lucid, and my dreams were'nt any different either.
I had a recent LD the other day.
I rarely have LDs now because I've stopped pracitcing reality checks.
But my alarm was ringing like crazy, and I didn't hear it while I was sleeping, and dreaming..
And I ended up waking a little bit late for school. But it was a cool LD!
Anyways, I want that again.
I'm gonna try it tonight, so I forced myself to eat a banana even though I'm really full.

It is a book called Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming by steven LaBerge, and is generally reccomended for people interested in Lucid Dreaming to read. I can't speak for it though, I never bothered getting it. You probably don't need it, but considering its popularity among LDers, it is a good idea, but definitely not an "essential to anyone intersted".
Yeah, the best time to LD is about 5-7 hours after going to sleep (generally early morning), and it is most common for people to LD during those time periods, as the REM sleep is more frequent then, thougn LDs while you are about to wake up naturally are common too, as you are going from subconsious to consious, and therefore have more chance of getting Lucid, as all Lucidity is is getting consious in your subconsious dream.
This sounds like an interesting tech. I haven't had luck with much else (5 LDs in a year and a half) so I might as well give it a try.
ah i wana try this thing so bad, but im still not sure what to think about. what is there to think about in lucid dreams? or are you supposed to fantasize?
