My first time i tried a WILD was 4 nights ago. I succeded before i went to bed and had a wacked up dream about me floating in my living room. I tried the next night and heres what happened -

Firstly i turned off all the lights in my house, made sure there woud be minimal disturbances, and then i stripped down to my boxers and hopped under my covers. I layed in the Supial position (as i had the night before) and i just started to relax. I counted down from 50 slowly and when i got to around 17 i noticed i wasnt counting anymore and realized i didnt know how long i was sitting there doing nothing (happened the night before as well) so i continued to count down and when i got to zero i emptied my mind and my limbs felt like lead. So far everything was going good, but after that point it was strange... i would empty my mind and then start to dream while i was awake (my mind started to wander by itself) but before my subconcious could completely transition to 'sleep', i had the realization i was dozing off, and then i was 'awoken' again. I was still super relaxed but getting irritated that every time i was inches from dozing off I would realize i was starting to! It was preventing my mind from starting to sleep! I didnt have a problem with this the night before, and i'm getting mad now... what do you suggest? (I'm thinking its a problem with relaxation, or maybe i dont know how to handle the transition into sleep very well...)

Same thing here. I had one [a wild] three years ago and haven't had one since... but my life has also been very very hectic. I've only tried a few more times. Hopefully things will slow down a little bit so I can keep doing WILDs. My WILD was also my first attempt.

I'm sure you had a similar experience that I did. The paralysis, the sounds, the lights. It's a pretty intense thing. I feel like I'm a different person because of it. Maybe tonight's the night....
DEC 06: 29 entries in journal, 7 of which were lucid. 0 WILDs.

Happens to me all the time whenever I start thinking about the transition from waking to sleep... I catch myself dozing of, I then feel a kinda "zooming out" feeling.. sorta like coming out of water, and then i'm awake. I think to prevent this while WILDing you need to wake up after 4-6 hrs of sleep. (I havn't successfully WILDed at any time though)

You have just described exactly what happens. It feels like coming out of water, like you suddenly realize, "Holy shit, this is reality, i'm not sleeping." And it makes you reclear your mind all over again. My first time i did it i guess i just never thought about the transistion. I need to clear my mind better i think. I'm gonna try again tonight since its a Friday! *is excited*
