In my experience, i cannot WILD because my mind is too focused on it. I feel this may be the problem with some of you as well. Try this.

Do the normal WILD thing. Sleep for 5,6, or 7 hours, and wake up. Then DO NOT try to WILD. Just try to go back to sleep. Sooner or later (if you are relaxed enough) you will feel really drowsy, and your mind will start to drift. When this happens, wake your mind back up again, by just thinking about being awake or something. If you have the timing right, your body will still be in the drowsy mode, but your mind will be awake. Then, let your mind drift a SECOND time, then wake your mind up again. Do this until a dream starts.

I know this may seem a little vague, but it does make sense. People fail at WILD because of too much concentration on it. Instead, take it one step at a time.

I hope this helps. And if worst comes to worst, this could lead to a DILD

I can't agree more. Whenever I try to WILD, it takes me over an hour to fall asleep, and then I just give up. I made up my mind a couple days ago to just let myself relax naturally instead of using relaxation techniques, but I'm waiting for the weekend so that I won't lose to much sleep.

Although I don't have any experience with this method, I'd like to add a couple of tips that I think will help (at least for me). First, clear your mind for about 15-20 seconds when you begin. Then you can let your mind wander and reflect upon the previous day or think about whatever you normally do before you fall asleep. I find clearing my mind even for a short time significantly relaxes my body, and I expect it will shorten the amount of time you'll have to wait before your mind begins to drift. My second tip is to focus on/passively observe any light patterns or HI even while you're not relaxed enough to WILD. Although this sounds obvious, you'd be surprised how long your method can take if you don't pay attention to the imagery the whole time.

Have you been successful yet with this version of WILD? If not, good luck to both of us! Let's hope this helps others, too.

      David
