Thumbs down

For some reason everytime i set a alarm clock it will wake me up once, but after that my body will ignore it and it will no longer wake me up. so the only way i have ever been able to record dreams is when i wake up in the morning. is there a way to wake my self up in the night with other methonds? please help.

      Thanks

I have 10 alarm clocks that I set to go off every half hour during the night starting at about 3 1/2 hours after I go to bed, but they are very pleasant sounding alarm clocks with a rooster crow and a koo koo clock sound with the time repeated in a ladys voice. Just the fact the set the alarm clocks to go off seems to send a message to my subconscious mind which usually wakes me up all night long before the alarm clocks even start going off. Although I remember a lot of dreams every month there is a downside to this, as since I am so used to waking up during my dreams, I also tend to wake up as soon as I become lucid in a dream.

      U need Clocky!

"When the alarm clock goes off and the snooze button is pressed, Clocky will fall off of the bedside table and wheel away, bumping mindlessly into objects on the floor until he eventually finds a spot to rest. Minutes later, when the alarm sounds again, the over-sleeper must get up out of bed and search for Clocky. Because you employ multiple senses to find the clock, you are sure to awake before disabling the alarm. Small wheels enable Clocky to move and reposition himself, and an internal computer helps him find a new hiding spot every day."

I dont know if im the only one who can do this but if i concentrate really hard before i go to bed, when i want to wake up, i will normally do it. I just look at my clock and see how many hour till i want to get up and then i take deep breaths and concentrate on getting up at that specific time.

      Hope this helps!!!

Just use self-suggestion, it's like the bodies personal alarm clock. Tell yourself you wil wake up at a certain time over and over and you should wake up. Well that's what I do and it always works.

I also have this problem. In fact, its really bad. I used to try everything, even hiding my alarms. I got a really big ass alarm, which was excellent. I taped it up to make it impossible to switch off, and put it on full volume. It woke me up for the first few times. Unfortunately, I moved to Japan soon after, so I was stuck with my watch alarm.

Eventually, I just had to get into the habit of auto-suggesting and getting up regularly. Its amazing what your body can do when you put your mind to it. Get used to trying to to rely on your alarm clock.

Have you tried putting the volume up on your alarm clock.

Have you tried putting the clok somewhere else in the room.

Have you tried turning you alarm clock round to face the other way. (this only works if you've got a digital alarm clock with lots of buttons on the top, because you have to wake up properly to turn the alarm off as it's a bit of a puzzle working out, backwards, which the off button is).

What about changing the alarm sound from beeping or buzzing, to the radio or music?

I have such a difficult time waking up at times that I set them in pairs, two of them to go off after 3 1/2 hours a minute apart, and then the others in pairs also, to go off every 30 minutes after that. These are pleasant sounding alarm clocks, so that they don't interfere with my dream recall, as I can set them on a cockoo sound, or a rooster crow, and they only go off for 1 minute before stopping, so I sometimes sleep right through them, which is why I have the next ones set for 30 minutes later. I don't always need them, as I often wake up every hour and half to two hours during my dreams, but I still like them for a backup, to get out of those nightmare type of dreams, which I have a hard time getting out of, and which can waste an entire night. I agree with the idea of using autosuggestions to wake up naturally, and use this method also, but I still use the alarm clocks for a backup just in case.
