The weirdest thing happened to me last night. I had trouble sleeping (which was really annoying, because I had to fall asleep by a certain time, as I was planning to WILD later), and to try and fall asleep, I started counting my breaths. Deep breaths. In, then out, one, in, then out, two, repeat.

Well, I was falling asleep, doing basically what I'd do if I were going to WILD. (it was my first time that I was going to WILD)

So there I am, counting away, when I get to one point, probably about 150, I start to feel slight vibrations, just a tingling sensation at my feet. 200 - the tingling sensations again, only they moved from my feet to my stomach/chest area.

After a while, nothing much happened, I felt like I was spinning a bit, felt like I was sitting in a way that I didn't feel like I was sitting.

Then something really weird happened, I was at either 400 or 300, and I felt something, like, something really heavy was being put on me. Weights, or something. It started at my legs, vibrations, then it felt like they were sinking through the bed. Then it moved up to my chest, then up to my head, then sinking.

I thought I may've gone into a lucid dream, but that couldn't have happened yet, I hadn't gone to sleep yet, so I wouldn't be able to go straight into the REM cycle, would I?

Ignoring this, thinking it was the sleep paralysis (because from what I've heard, that's what it feels like, minus the sinking feeling). Eventually though, as I kept counting, it seemed to go away, and surely enough, at around 500, I felt myself in my bed again, no feeling. That's when I just threw it all away, and I did a reality check. BOOM, nothing happened. I was in my bed, and I still hadn't gone to sleep. Nuts.

So, what was that? From what I've heard, that's what happens when you try to WILD. Vibrations. I read in a guide (BillyBob's) that once you feel vibrations that aren't like the sleep paralysis ones, you should do a reality check. Did I just do a reality check too early? Or did it not matter at all, since I hadn't gone to sleep at all yet?

I went to bed at about eleven, eleven thirty maybe, and this happened at about 1:30, 2:00 AM. I hadn't fallen asleep yet, if that matters.

      So...what the hell was that?

Not sure what that was but definately don't try a reality check while any sensations are still happening or you might wake up. I have tried to WILD in the begining of the night as I am going to bed but it has never worked. That doesn't mean its not possible, just that its easier after you have had some sleep.

Yeah, 'twas SP. I've never WILDed all the way, but I used to keep trying just becuase those sensations were a bit of a rush. You might have better luck catching a few hours of sleep beforehand. The vibrations are different for everybody, and different each time you have them. The heaviness you had is common, and sometimes kind of relaxing if you don't get freaked out by it.

Yeah. I didn't do the reality check while it was still happening though (my bad, I guess I didn't make it clear enough), I did it after I got to 500, once I had counted to 500, everything seemed to stop, so then I tried a reality check.

That happened to me once when I tried to WILD. It was a succesful WILD, too. My only succesful one. But I had been reading on Astral Projection too. That's what it sounds like to me, but I could be wrong.

It was SP. It happens all the time. In fact every time I try to WILD that is about as far as I get.
Dreaming is like pie...It gets addictive.

It seems to me there's no need to do RC while WILDing, and i think that's what you shouldn't have done. I must admit i dont WILD a lot, but the few i had tried it (during afternoon naps), i had the usual tingling sensations, then SP, and finally HI. And during all the process, i didn't have to do any RC because i was kinda half-lucid all the time.

      What do you think?

Sp means sleep paralysis. and yes i agree it either could be somehow related to astral projection (the sitting up but not really sitting up thing) or sp
