      Hello folks,

Lately (since a week or so) I've been attempting to do a WILD now and then. Usually, I just lie down in a room without much sound and light. At the start of each WILD endeavor, I think "Hmm, I wonder if this will work, oh well, who cares, at least I try." After 5 minutes, I begin to feel relaxed. Then, after those 5 minutes, I start visualizing random scenes. Sometimes random scenes (not by 'myself&#39 are generated, and I usually snap out of them after some time when I realize that it's something generated by my subconscious mind. When I do this, I sometimes get a weird feeling (kind of like falling, but less?). After doing this for 30 minutes, I don't feel as if anything has improved. This what I did in the afternoon (after 8 hours of sleep in the night). After 45 minutes (total) or so, I decided to call it a 'failure' (actually, you can never fail, you can only get closer to success each time you try it). However, I kind of felt tired, not really tired, just a little longing to be still lying down. (Does this mean I've reached a major alpha/minor theta stage?)

Sometimes after sleeping for 4 - 6 hours, I decide to try a WILD. Usually after getting up, and going to the bathroom, I do a little math to awaken my mind (I don't really do WBTB). I do this for 5 minutes? Then I lie down. I start thinking about random thoughts fast. I also find it hard to concentrate on what I've been concentrating about. After I snap out of a random thought by realizing it's only a thought, I get a tingly feeling, and I can hear a buzz. I do fall asleep without WILD'ing, and I don't even know when...

I've tried WILD before going to bed aswell. This seems to work the same as trying to WILD in the afternoon. After a while I start getting random thoughts (I can see things, well, I don't really see them, it's just a thought (mind's eye?). Whenever I snap out of them by realizing it's just a thought, I get that buzz feeling again. However, after a while I just fall asleep without knowing when I fell asleep.

Counting doesn't work for me. Concentrating on my breath doesn't work. Visualizing seems to work better than other things. I can usually feel my heartbeat. I think it's too fast? Even though I feel calm enough. I don't know what you guys think about this? Is anybody willing to help poor me?

Edit: Also, I would like to know when people report that they 'see things happen', do they mean REALLY seeing it as if in waking life or just through the mind's eye? I'm really being confused with this one. I can usually see things, but I think it's just my mind's eye... It's as if I have a clear visualization.
      Sure, why not?

You're current method seems to not be working.

From my experience, this is what I would suggest (what I do):

Lay face up, and don't move you're body "whatsoever". I mean, not at all. Also, however odd this may sound, make sure the preface of you're WILD attempt consists of you're mind being fully awake, while you're body is sleepy. I listen to meditation noises with my MP3 player while I do this. It helps me keep focused. Remember, you arnt trying to fall asleep. You want you're body to fall asleep.

If it helps, I could link you to the meditation noise I use to help keep focused (or PM it if direct links arnt allowed).

Wouldn't that take hours of laying still?

I've tried laying down face up. That doesn't seem to really work. I can lay down like that for... an hour if I have to. It just doesn't seem to work. Neither does it work by laying on my side. Nor does it work laying on my stomach.

Well, you do have to be asleep, sort of. You want your mind to fall asleep aswell, because otherwise you wouldn't be able to enter a dream. You need theta waves etc.

Sometimes, all a sudden, after laying down for like half an hour, I get a very vivid image in front of my eyes. Usually it's a scene-like thing. Sometimes it's text, and I'm able to read it (even though it's nonsense). However, once I see it, it usually dissapears right away (except for the text, for some reason). What does this mean? Does this mean it's almost dream-time or that I'm just starting to see HI? :/

It's defiantly HI. How vivid are they? Are they in your minds eye or what seems to be actual sight? Perhaps somebody else could elaborate on this.

I'm not sure. It's as if my mind's eye gets placed in front of my real vision. Which is a very cool thing. It was very vivid. When I noticed how vivid it was, it disappeared, though.

I'm not sure if I was far, though. Can anybody tell me how far that would be? Let's say... almost in a dream, somewhere at start, etc.
