When I started actively lucid dreaming again.

      1. I start working on my dream recall (dream journal).
      2. I started doing reality checks (on my own), like 8 - 12 checks a day. Where I look at my hands and then I inspect my environment.
      3. When I go to bed, I WANT to have a lucid dream that same night. Also, I expect to have one.
      Sure, why not?

I can't afford to do WBTB everynight because i have to wake up early next morning. Sometimes i have random lucid dreams, but i have found that my success rate increases whenever i follow this ritual (mostly on weekends and holidays):

I eat a banana with 50mg B6 and go to sleep at midnight, wake up at 5:15, chill out for at least 45 min., go back to sleep, and i usually have a lucid some 30+ min. later.

Of course, as Jr_Worley said, confidence and auto-suggestion play a big part in attaining lucidity.

But since you're new to all this, i suggest you read some tutorials first. Improve your dream recall and do reality checks during the day. Attaining lucidity is a process that takes patience, so stick around.

Yeah keeping a dream journal is a really good idea for dream recall,
i recommend doing WBTB because your waking up from REM and when you go back to sleep you'll go back to the REM stage of sleep.

and like a i said before when using the WBTB method, just know you will dream and you WILL lucid don't want it know it.

You should prob do RC's everyday, it helps a lot with DILD.

Back when i first started practicing this stuff, i didn't even have dream recall lol but after a week i gave up , and when i didn't even want it anymore but i knew i could have dreams.

Guess what i had dreams and my first lucid. so Confidence definitely improves your chances.

but anyways that's just the way i use WBTB+DILD.
there's a lot of other methods to look into like MILD,WILD,FILD etc

Good luck and hopefully you'll be having lucid's in no time

The Will to have one is the most important thing, you have to maintain a positive attitude and be sure that you will have one, comebine this with WBTB, and you should have one in no time, really, hopefully.
WILD takes a while to master but it is totally effective for long vivid lucid dreams I've heard.
Most of my LD's are Dream Induced, because I have great dream recal 5-6 a night and a lucid if I really put my mind to it, mostly two in a night if I want to.
Banana's don't help me at all, I never remember dreams if I have a banana when I go to sleep
It's different for everyone though, read up about techniques and you should be on your path to a LD.

PS: If you REALLY want an LD soon, try FILD, has a huge sucess rate, mostly when you first try it, I tried it once and almost had two in the same night.

The last 2 days, I've had 5 lucid dreams. What I did was:

      1. A few really good reality checks in waking reality.
      2. When I awoke in the middle of the night. I did some maths. (For a few minutes or so. Just simple stuff like 33*4, etc. Still, it works.)
      3. I have faith that I WILL have a lucid dream.
      Sure, why not?

What's this about doing math when you wake up? Does that work?

i'm going to have to try FILD. i had never even heard about it until stumbling on to this site.

also, i find that spending time HERE posting and reading helps me. i hadn't had a lucid for a while until one day last week... i spent a lot of time that night reading and posting. just getting it in my mind helped me have an LD.

also try reverse blinking... hasn't gotten me to a LD yet, but it works for a lot of people. i've gotten as far as seeing the HI, but haven't been able to "step in" to the dream yet.

      good luck!
