Hrm... Eventually, your ears should dampen the external input it's receiving. When I enter sleep paralysis, the only sensation I really notice from the outside world is how the bed feels.
Last night was an extremely windy night, so there were lots of trash cans and things blowing around and making a lot of noise. However, once you manage to block 'em out with your mind, you can function properly to WILD. Just keep a relaxed mind, focus on your breathing, and remember that your body would've been able to go to sleep if your mind wasn't awake.
Go with the flow, basically.
