Thread: What's it like to look at your hands?

I've decided to try habitually looking at my hands to practice my reality checks. What usually happens when I look at my hands in a dream? Do they become disfigured or something?

Well, from my experiences, my hands have never been really deformed or anything.

Once the only thing different was that one hand was smaller than the other.
Another time, my pinky and ring finger were bent back so that I couldn't see much of them and when I tried to turn my hand, they would just curve more around my middle finger so that I could only see one side of each finger
Yet another time, I looked at my hands and they were perfectly normal, although shortly after violent vibrations shook the entire dream and I woke up

I have never used looking at my hands for a reality check.
Once i am in a Lucid dream, if I feel the lucidity fading a good technique is to stare at your hands, the ground or somthing stable to obtain lucidity. In wich case they do not become deformed at all. Actualy it is usually the other way around. The obscured dream scape becomes more clear.

The first time i had a LD was the RC of looking at my hands. To put it simply, they were distorted. Kinda like they were melting o_O. It was almost as if someone was changing the frequency of my eyes and they were a distorted image. Sorry, its hard to explain, i tried my best.

After watching Back to the Future, my hands were see-through. After watching Lord of the Rings, I had the One Ring on. After reading Harry Potter, they were all gross like a dementor's.

It really depends on the last thing I remember a hand looking like... or the last visual memory my brain has had.

Pretty sweet, actually

I checked them once to see if reality checks really worked, and sure enough they were pretty weird. My hands were both super wide, kinda like how Jim Carey's hand is in Bruce Almighty when he has seven fingers... I looked at it a bit longer, and then they turned bright green. But the last part may just have been because my friend told me the same thing happened to him and my mind remembered it.

My hands are usually normal but when I RC by putting a finger through my hand it all goes a bit blurry and u can see a bit of the finger going through but that’s it.

Once I had the ring from Lord of the Rings on.. that was cool because I used it as a reality check!
