      Hi,

I've been trying to LD for a while (only semis so far), mostly through the WILD technique. So far, I can get all kinds of vibrations and stuff happening, with visuals, but at one point it just stops. No reason, no movement from me, it just stops. And I know it isn't in sleep paralysis, because if I try to move after a moment of a 'prickly' I can. No effort, just a slight movement even is possible.

So, my question is this: How do I get full sp from this point, what might be stopping it, and... yah.

      Thanks!

Actually, I've had similar experiences to this.
You get so far, you think things are going, and you realize "hey, I'm doing better then usual!" then you TRY to calm yourself and maintain the composure you once had, but distracting thoughts keep coming to you... i.e. Okay, now that I've gotten this far without thinking about my physical self... All of a sudden the word physical forces your mind to double check your body, and kind of... place you back in it's spot.

You think there's a point where you can ruin a WILD effort beyond repair for that morning or w.e?

Sounds plausible to me... Also... does anyone else get itchy stages? Cuz I swear to God I get challenged via itches...

That's weird I always fall into SP well before I experience Vibrations and well before WILD kicks in. What's been happening with you seems a little backwards to me.

For me, I just relax and at one point it just sort of starts. The vibrations start, visuals appear, whatever the case may be, but it just starts happening.

OneRyt, thank you for the suggestion and I'll try to not think about myself and the vibrations. Whoops. Too late. I think that might be what's happening, thanks for the advice.

Ne-yo, I'm not exactly sure if there's a feeling associated with sp. Sometimes I've heard people don't experience any sensations, maybe a slight sorta-itchy buzzing, but not much.

Anyway, I'll give it another shot tonight. Thanks all!

I don't believe anyone who says they don't have any sensations while consciously in SP.

Are you sure you aren't shivering or laying on a body part?

i've had a similar issue. i can get to the tingly feeling, then feeling numb all over, feeling like you're kind of floating/warm feeling all over, beginning stages of HI... but i can still move body parts. like a finger or something. shouldn't i, uh, not be able to do that? either way, i can't get past the beginning stages of HI. i've read alllll the stuff about it: spin the image, look "past" it, yada yada... i'm going to keep trying though.

Yes, OneRyt, I've gotten the "itchies" before. It's weird because I won't have an itch the whole time until I reach a certain point, HI starting, body starting to go numbish, then all the sudden one itch...another...another....it's really distracting ;/

Anyway, back on topic. Yeah Metroid48, I know exactly what you're talking about too! It feels like my body's gonna go into SP at any second, then...nothing. It's like someone just hit the reset button and I'm left starting all over again...it really sucks.

But, I've only been trying WILD's for about 2 weeks, so I'm not trying to rush things. I'll just take it as it comes and if I fail, well, that's one more session to learn from. I hope to master this technique minus itchies and resets....

From my one WILD, I can say that once you're at that point, you've made it past the easy part. The hard part is staying concious enough to enter your WILD, yet not too much so you never do. I think I got lucky on my first WILD, but I plan on trying again this afternoon, then again tonight.

For me, it was my hearing that made me realize I was close. Rooms sounds switched to dream sounds/voices, back and forth... each time the dream sounds lasting longer. That is the point I want to get to without falling asleep.

For my first WILD, luckily a DC told me to open my eyes. I was there! My dream eyes were closed, though. Very weird.

I haven't heard sounds yet. Only the vibrations, random pressures/movements, then lights and interesting visuals, then... nothing. Just as Dragos Dreamer described, it's like someone hit the reset button. So I'm not sure that it's a matter of staying conscious, more-so of making it past there.

Anyway, I haven't been able to try OneRyt's suggestion, too tired to try it. However, I probably will this weekend.

EDIT: Btw, so-far most of the people who've posted here don't have avatars/sigs. Do most people use them on this forum?

Yesterday was interesting. Napped after lunch and had my 2nd WILD... very cool. Tried again when I Went to bed, nothing.

I think your body may have to be "ready to dream". I think I didn't WILD or dream at all last night because of the nap... too much sleep?

I may try again this afternoon. IF it works, that will be my WILD time and I can save night time for DILDs or just sleep.

I've been having the same sort of problem, too. As I lie in bed, I get the vibrations, visuals, numbness and whatnot, but I can still move and hear my surroundings just fine. Perhaps the problem is, like someone above said, staying too conscious? It's not a problem with over-excitement, since I am very relaxed in this state.

      Any insights on a solution?

I heard that some people don't experience anything, they just know that their in the dream. Anyway, my problem is exactly like javan287's (/\ up there.) I think that i got the power wave feeling that means your in a dream, but i didn't see anything, should i open my eyes or risk an RC?

yeah i just heard sounds for the first time ever last night... it was a little creepy.

i had just smoked a little weed, and as SOON as i closed my eyes, i felt like i was on a roller coaster. or rather, it seemed like my dream was about to be one where i was riding a roller coaster. i IMMEDIATELY (like within 3-5 seconds of closing my eyes) felt vibrations, a warm sensation... then the voices. it's kinda scary because it sounds so real. anyway, i'm going to try again tonight.

p.s.- before someone says that smoking weed is bad for lucid dreaming, i'm totally aware of that (and i agree). just mentioning it to give you factual info about my experience.

Yeah, my nose and forehead start to itch just when I'm as comfortable and relaxed as possible. I try to ignore it but usually have to cave in and scratch. It also happens when I reach that stage during relaxation techs. It's so annoying.

i have gotten close to wild 2-3 times, i even had HI/HS each time. i KNOW i am close. i even have woken up in SP before, so i know what it feels like and everything. as for the problem that some people are having, yes you are TOO consious.

i get the same thing, get to a point and it stops totally. ya have to loose some awareness to get farther. the times when i have almost succeeded, it got VERY freaky with the sounds.

actually all my SPs so far were like that

I could always move, although when I moved, Ifelt my body a bit strange, like those times when you lack strength after you just woke up and so

als oI've managed to stay a whole night (8 hours) awake trying to WILD haha.. most of the time I stayed in that same semiSP (the vibrations, but able to move) and sometimes I was just completely awake

I think It's kinda hard for me to lose cousciousness... when going to sleep normally, it does also take me a nice piece to get asleep... my mind has to go insane and completely lacking sense before I fall asleep

I'll try it again this night, I do better when just WILDing at night then the 'waking up in the middle of the night' thing.. when I do wake up I am too sleepy and lose focus

I'm also gonna try a thing I've seen somewhere, of simulating a dream cousciously, like, imagining random things and all... imagining is great for maintaining awareness and caring less about your body feelings

anyways all I've been able to do so far was that semiSP.. I think I've been too worried lately.. too many things going on, can't relax properly

      anyways, thanks for the opportunity,
      ~Kromoh
