So my major problem is actually kind of funny. I achieve lucidity in dreams, i.e. I become aware that I am dreaming, but as soon as that happens I literally say to myself, "I can't be lucid dreaming, I am not able to become aware in my dreams." Even though I obviously do!
Ugh, it's so frustrating, it's happened to me twice and once I just decided to wake up. I've been trying for 2 months and sometimes I have trouble even remembering my dreams! Normally I have very vivid dream recall, but I guess it's all just a matter of me trying to hard.
I am now trying the WBTB technique, but I don't think I slept long enough last night. I got up after approximately 4 hours of sleep and stayed up for a half an hour. I didn't dream before I woke up, but I did dream after I went back to sleep; so, I'm assuming that I should get atleast 5 - 6 hours of sleep before waking up.
      Thanks for any advice!

Don't worry you'll get past the problem, start by trying MILD more while falling asleep. I get up after 4 hours when I WBTB. I rarely remember the dreams before I WBTB, only after. In my experience a half hour is too much, I stay up for less than 5 mins because I have to stay in sleepy mode or it doesn't work as well, while Im awake I usually do some type of meditation, like staring at one point or breath counting.

edit. When you MILD you can use your own sentence like "I will obtain and maintain lucid dreams tonights.", you have to program your brain to believe it is possible.

I've tried a lot of things, and the only time that they worked is when i was wide awake, i was just testing them, and they would work, but then id stop myself, happy that they worked, i expected it, and it never happened again, i think i have to actually doubt my subconscious to make it do what i want. Kinda like reverse psychology?
