      Trouble With WILDs

whenever i try to WILD, i feel my body "go to sleep" but then it becomes painful. like when you ride in the car for 7 hours and your muscles start to hurt because they arn't moving. eventually i give in and move around to stop the feeling of pain. does this happen to anyone else? or if not, what are some suggestions as to what i should do instead?

      thanks

Hi DreamWeaver.....I believe you can get me throught the night...

Sorry, old song that is a fav. of mine =)

You should not be feeling pain if you are in sleep paralysis.
Hw about describing the sensations you have leading up to the point you enter paralysis?

Maybe we can go from there?

      Oh yeah, WELCOME!!
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...

i think what he means is that while he is attempting to do a wild, he isnt moving ANY muscles in his body, and they start to get kinda stiff and painful. i know exactly what hes talking about. i dont think moving them a tiny bit will affect anything, all that matters is your concentration. and if something is disctracting you from concentrating, fix it! eventually youll fall asleep before the muscles start hurting again, then you wont have to worry about it.

Death-Wuad, you seem to have hit it right on target. next time it happens i'll try moving a bit. i was thinking about something else also. most of the wilds i attempt are from waking up in the middle of the night and trying a wild from there. but is it possible to do a wild the first time you go to sleep? or is your mind too cluttered and body to energetic?

Seeker, thanks for the welcome. whats this adoption thing i've seen people talking about?

I feel that some times too. Doesn't happen that often but some times like a leg or an arm hurts a little. If you take a really long time to fall asleep(over an hour) doing a WILD and it hurts then, might just give up trying. Some times it just won't work, and you can try later.

A fun little thing that I've been trying is getting past the pain. After I've meditated for a while, like an hour or more, I like to channel through my body and look for pains. When I find them, I focus all of my energy to that one point and sooth the pain away. It works for me, but has taken some time for me to perfect it. I now use that same act during my WILDs. This also helps me maintain my focus during a WILD and I am less prone to falling asleep. This may not work for some or none of you, but here is my two cents!

I have never even gotten that far in WILD. But from what I heard as long as you are relaxing and concentrating it should work.
Love like you have never been hurt before

I suggest finding a very comfortable position and occupying your mind with HI or visualization. My idea is =if you focus on your body for extended periods of time, you may experience various sensations, which are normally filtered out by your mind... But it's just a hypothesis

Sounds like a realistic thought to me, I will have to try that. Do you have any other tips?

and dreamweaver- when asked if you can go into a wild when you first go to bed, it might be possible, but probably very difficult. the one time i tried to do a WILD after waking up and going back to bed, i managed to get it a little bit before i got scared and lost my concentration. ive tried about 5 times now to do a wild when i first go to bed, im never even close to successful though, so ive stopped doing that and now im focusing on the *mantra* chants

how do you know when you are seeing HI? whenever i try to see it i dont usually get very far. maybe i'm focusing on "not focusing on anything" too much. is it just like vivid imagination? also, how long on average does it take to see HI once you've started the WILD process?

on another note, whenever i stop trying to have LD or remember to recognize im dreaming or anything, i usually have 1-2 almost lucid dreams in the next few nights. why is this and what should i do? if i stop trying to learn and just rely on "luck" or whatever to have a LD they stop completely. any thoughts?
