Has anyone else had the problem where they have dreams but are never able to recognise that they're dreaming. I'm having that at the moment and even really blatent dream signs don't cause me to think "Am I dreaming?". I''ve even had one where I had a moustache when I looked in the mirror and didn't wake up, along with many more surreal dreams. It's beginning to frustrate me...

Last nights dream was so random adn had so many dream signs that it's a miricle that I didn't become lucid, (a bad miricle ) but looking back i realize that everytime I saw something weird, I came up with some half-assed explianation. For example, at one point I saw a really weird fish, and I said to myself, "Of course it's different, I'm in a different realm." Like, WTF eh? But nothin for it but try try and try again.
I had a strange dream last night...

Yeah same, with the moustache I thought to myself,"Well I haven't had a shave." What! I don't shave! How can I not have one! Grrr.

Get into the habit of doing a RC every time you walk through a door. I do that tons in dreams, and when you get to the point where you don't even think about it, it really pays off.

Hey goldney, I'm having a similar problem. It's quite frustrating, especially when you have obvious indicators that you're dreaming and it doesn't register. Here's a recent thread with some advice that I got:

Hey, two nights ago I plugged my nose and breathed in not once, not twice, but three times and figured "Hhmph", and went on without realizing what I just did"

Yeah, during my nap today, one of my teeth fell out, and I thought "Wait, this only happens when I dream. Am I dreaming?" Then I thought "Nah, I couldn't be. I'm drooling too much." What a stupid excuse! I think any sign that I'm questioning my environment more is a good thing, even though I didn't become lucid.

Damn those last two posts beat mine hands down. I take it you two have both had lucid dreams. I haven't and I think that's what's holding me back because I don't know how a dream 'feels' and how I can recognise it. It's kinda hard to explain...

Man, that sounds worse than a month long lucid dry spell... my advice is to do a dream journal, especially since it improves your dream recall and makes recurring dreamsigns apparent, that and if it's online then other people can help point it out to you.

The only RC I can think of that'd help you isn't really a RC, you just question yourself whether you're dreaming or not randomly in your head. Or if you need help remembering to do RCs, this person made a prgram for it

I had a drem last night where I was in a hospotal and was told that I had Sausage tumors in my abdomen. I was cut open and fully aware that I was being sliced open and having sliced of sausage pulled out of me. How the F did I not realize I was dreaming. After I was cut open my cell phone started ringing (in my dream) and I wantekeep it in my back pocket. I didn't want to answer it though because I was lying on my back on an operating table with my stomach open and I didn't want all of my guts to fall out.

      WTF!

How do I not realize that this is a dream!

Lol, I can't blame you, I've never realized that I was dreaming when my dream was basically screaming "you're dreaming" at my face, I hate it when that happens.

It usually does because I either accept what DCs say to me as a reasonable fact [once one explained to me how come I was in rich magic school and how magic exists and it sounded so reasonable at the time I agreed with them and never became lucid, but I did almost get fried by upperclassmen with giant fireballs] or lose concentration of things, you know, like when you're thinknig about something and then a friend drags you off without telling you why, you focus on the latter and forget your thoughts.

Sorry for my bad spellings and typos. Didn't realize how bad the post was. I was eating a sandwich and typing at the same time. Also I haven't really been doing reality checks that long so its not really a habit for me yet, but I have had too many dreams that I should have known better.

Nah it's fine, typos don't bug me and spelling errors tend to happen when you're in a rush or what not.

As for RCs, I've stopped trying with those, I've only done it once in my dreamlife regardless of how many times I do it IRL so if you're like me then a dream journal's good, you can find dreamsigns and I can seem to remember those so I've become lucid a bit more often because of that [but I must warn you, some dreamsigns you might find are pretty funky and/or funny].

I haven't found any specific dreamsigns. I even revisited the same place in the same night twice in two different dreams. I was also trying to MILD, if that doesn't trigger lucidity I don't know what will...

Have you tried WBTB yet? That works pretty well. If those don't work then you might want to either change your sleep schedule or your diet. Changing those can trigger lucid dreams [I know that as a fact] so even if a technique doesn't work the first time you should just try changing other things and try again

Aha I'm gonna try FILD tonight as I've already tried WBTB a couple of times and it's not great because I don't really have enough time to stay up for an hour or so in the middle of the night. I'll probably try WBTB on the weekends though.

Keep on checkin' the reality. Eventually it should stick.

I find FILDs are a little silly if you're too awake. Try depriving some sleep first, or waking up at night and trying it.

      Moving a couple posts back...

If you hit a LD, ie) consciousness within a dream, and you know it, it's a feeling you can never forget, but never describe. It's like describing how a chicken tastes if the person in question has never eaten food.

For me, a LD feels like someone replaced my spine with a fluorescent light filled with marshmallows.

I suppose it feels different for everyone.

BTW, woot points for the avatar.

Haha funny tonight I was walking around thinking that I should enhance my awareness insead of day dreaming. But why didn't I RC :'(
Currently practicing WILD. I quote Kaniaz who said it best: "The point of WILD is to piss me off". Though, I have not given up, far from it.

Wow thanks for everyone's help. I tried FILD last night and it seemed to work because I remember doing the nose plug RC and it worked and I remember also thinking that I know I'm dreaming don't get excited etc. etc. but for the life of me I can't remember anything else, which is kind of annoying. I don't think it classes as an LD.

I can completely sympathise with everyone here. Sometimes I have the most unrealistc and stupid dreams, such as:

Well I'm at school and then I go down the path to the toilets and when I get there, its turned into a swimming pool with the cubicles all filled with water.
so I say, hmm I'm going to have to swim around. But I don't wanna stay here, but there's no other toilets, damn this water.

      or another dream:

Being on another planet where it was all jungle and I was being sent to war, so I left with 3 other friends into the jungle and was worried about my socks getting dirty.

      Stupid dream logic... doesn't exist.
      <div align="center">Just because you&#39;re not paranoid,
It doesn&#39;t mean that they&#39;re still not out to get you.</div>
