In my psychology class, we're covering sleep and dreaming. I was thinking about the false twitching technique used by those in this community to fool ones body into thinking its asleep. Well basically, can REM be used to do the same? Essentially, all it is is the lateral change in direction of one's eyes.

Unless anyone can blatantly say why this idea is ridiculously off, I would like to recruit testers, as it's more efficient for those of greater lucid experience and greater dream recall (3+ dreams a night) as opposed to someone who is unexperienced at inducing lucid dreaming.

Information needed to determine the effectiveness of induced REM would include the speed of eye movement, time spent utilizing the technique, level of relaxation, and any other information deemed vital to the experiment. Needless to say, to preserve the purity of the experiment, no other techniques should be used except for possibly false twitching.

I would greatly appreciate any and all lucid dreamers participation, as if only one person volunteered, that's still twice the opportunity for experimentation that I would be able to provide on my own.

Thanks

Than explain why people swear by body twitching (when you minimally jerk your arms or legs as to mimic the jerking that you experience while you really are asleep. It tricks your body into thinking your asleep. It's basically a technique to induce WILD.

Congrats on the 1st post.

Actually, thusfar, the best way to trick your Mind into believing your body's asleep is a ''Floatation tank.
Basically it is an Isolation tank in which a person floats in a bath of skin temperature water (zero extrernal tactile input), in complete darkness (zero external visual input) and with some good earplugs or Isolating headphones (zero auditory input). Depriving your senses of these stimuli for over half an hour up to an hour is known to lead to Hallucinations, Dreamyness, servere disorientation and wakefull dreams after you spent enough time in there.

Now this is actually a good idea and the only reason why alot of people would say ''rediculous'' is 'cause they have absolutely no clue as to how to reach it. Too bad cuz that's why people open ''rediculous'' topcis ainit? To find out what has not yet been found out and fully researched YET.

So I'm enthusiastic about this. I am not a very frequent Lucid Dreamer. I'll just have these unpredictable, spontanious lucids that come sometimes 3 times a week, sometimes 3 times a night and sometimes 3 times in 2 months. Very unpredictable.

So I can't quite call myself a master of Lucidity since no ILD-technique has ever helped me attain lucidity. Only naturally and spontaniously.
Maybe for this experiment you could use like 3 Lucid Dream MASTERS and 3 Average Lucid Dreamers like me perhaps? I'd be in if you could give a little more Specific instructions as how and when exactly to try this.
Keep me updated. Interresting topic.
Luminous Spacious Dream Masters That Holographically Communicate
among other teachers taught me

not to overestimate the Value of our Concrete Knowledge;"Common sense"/Rationality,
for doing so would make us Blind for the unimaginable, unparalleled Capacity of and Wisdom contained within our Felt Knowledge;Subconscious Intuition.

Thanks for your reply SKA. I think another dreamer beat me to the idea here, though. It's basically the same thing except more emphasized, and after a few nights of expirimenting, it does have it's effect. Check it out.

Thanks again for your reply, SKA.
