      Unhappy

All day, the main thing on my mind is dreaming.. I do reality checks a lot and think about it and I'm even reading EWOLD.. So when I go to bed at night how is it that I don't ever think about dreaming even though I think about it so much during the day in RL... Any tips??? I'm having a lot of trouble becoming lucid..

Same, I think about it all day and read about it before I go to sleep. I also try meditating and such as I am falling asleep. Then when I'm asleep my dreams are just like movies being played in front of my eyes.

How is your recall? You may be having them but do not remember.

I kinda got it a long time ago...had Ur problem about not having them despite thinking about LDing all day long. The problem is not that U didn't do Ur work hard enough but it is that U did it at the wrong time. RCs work at their best during WBTB and has given me quite a few lucids at that time so U might want to change the time of ur work at having LDs. Of course there's the thing about cultivating a habit about doing RCs during the day but usually that's that although some may have stayed with it long enough to actually do it in the dream. But if U want quick results with moderate effort I reccomend doing the RCs or what not method only during WBTB. Just do one whenever U awaken from sleep and be sure that Ur not still dreaming not just do for the sake of doing them. I have an idea I'm using right now....Since we usually don't remember to RC in dreams U could use that as an advantage. Just do one good and thorough (memorable) RC the first thing U wake up from bed in the morning and then during the day ask Urself "Did I do an RC today?"....if U can remember and say 'Yes' then Ur not dreaming but if U can't or U can't remember if U did or not..just do one there.... It should be easier on the mind IMO to form into a habit an then to the dream because I notice many habitual thoughts do appear in my dreams quite often.

Try the WILD technique ( with WBTB ).
I found that trying WILD is very helpful for me. Even if I fail the WILD and fall alseep, it increases the chances of getting a DILD.

It seems as though it's the subtle things through your day that reappear in your dreams. I used to be big on horror films when I was little, one side effect was the nightmares. I developed a technique where, just before I went to sleep I would concentrate on the films, this worked as a way of 'getting it out of my system' so that they wouldn't turn up in my dreams.

Perhapsyour obsession with lucid dreaming works in a similiar way to this. You've always got the topic on your mind and thus your not allowing room for it to reappear in your dreams. I would suggest leaving lucid dreaming out of your thoughts, of coarse you will still have thoughts about lucid dreams throughout the day but these will no longer be your dominent thoughts.

I agree , when I first discovered Lucid Dreaming as a possibility , I researched and tried all the induction techniques there was to the field however after weeks and weeks of trying to perform techniques (especially WILD) I realised " I just couldn't do it.". After 2 months, I gave up and completely refrained myself from my dream journal , not to mention the RC's. A few nights after that, I started getting really really vivid dreams, then one night. I became lucid and started to put faith into Lucid Dreaming again, ever since that I've been able to Lucid much easier. If there was any advice to offer or anything, I think you shouldnt put too much pressure on yourself and just let it come naturally.

Also, if you aren't keeping a journal of your recalled dreams you really should be. From there you can make a list of your recurring dream themes and signs. That goes a long way towards success for most LDers. I know it's helped me quite a bit.

That may help you. You might not think about dreaming less as a whole but you'll think more about your dreams, rather than dreaming as an abstract concept. A focus on your dreams is the key.

My advice is to be patient; if you become impatient, it'll be harder to LD.

You just have to wait a couple weeks, it's not like you'll be LDing immediately. It takes time.

Good luck with your dream adventures!

Don't think about LDing constantly - that is the easiest way to not get ANY LDs! Kind of let it happen.
