      My problem with WILDs

Well I had a WILD today, wasn't a very good one and was really short but I think I found out my problem. I can't enter a dream while conscious. I don't see HI, I don't feel anything and I don't hear anything. All my WILDs I have ever had I have lost consciousness and then regained right as I entered the dream or shortly after. A lot of times I wake up like within a second of the dream ending, and my body is still numb and stuff. I tried going back to sleep then, which should be pretty easy to do since thats really close to being a sleep still, but it doesnt work.

Its like I am either 100% fully conscious or I am totally out of it, never anything in between. So basicly I fail most of the time because I can't do a WILD unless I fall asleep then catch myself and wake up at the same time as I enter a dream, which is pretty hard. I tried thinking of all kinds of different stuff, or not thinking of anything, and tried imagening things and stuff but it doesn't really change anything.

I know I can get my body really relaxed so if I can like turn my brain off or something would be in a dream easy. Can't do that though so I am not really sure what else there is to do.

Dont worry, WILD is the hardest technique, and it's full of pitfalls.

First you start as a compromise between having sleep and trying to do

WILD. if you give up, you just fall asleep.

Second, there's a struggle between focusing on imagining things or HI

      and focusing on your body.

Then there's such things as comfortable position, breathing, stress and

      thoughts...

Even if you succeed, and you feel your body going into vibrations, you

hear sound and see flashing HI, it's very easy to screw up and get up

from your bed, or open your eyes in RL because you think you are in a

      dream already.

If you enter a dream, you can be disturbed by DC, you can be tricked

into waking up or losing lucidity....

WILD is by far the hardest technique

I think maybe I should just give up trying WILDs, and instead do like half WILD then fall asleep and hope I catch myself.

tried to wild today, now know the frustrations of this method. woke up early and everything...then after about an hour or more i finally started going into a dream and i could see in this room and everything was spinning and all the items in the room kept changing at a very high rate of speed... and i was excited cause i knew i was going to become lucid in a dream any second now...and then my gf opens the door and everything stops and i'm seein the back of my eyes again, SUCKS!!!!! I knew it was going to be an awesome LD.

Ev is right, WILD is the hardest.

But it is also the most exciting and interesting!

I can almost feel the vibrations right now as I remember...

although i cant make a comparison between WILD's and DILD's because i have had very few good DILD's (dream induced lucid dream), i must say that i cant imagine anything being better than a WILD.

and why bother giving up on WILD's? you practically have as many nights as you need to try it. if you can only attempt it on weekends, then try it on the weekends. if you fail, try it the next. anybody can do it, i think some are just naturally predisposed to succeeding at it (like me . but since im such a dumbass i cant get my alarm clock to work, or set my biological clock, that ive only tried it a few serious times, even though ive said numerous times that i would "try it tonight")

You mean she opened the door in your dream or in real life?

my first 2 tries at wild worked fine, i only got up to the vibrations and HI but it was still amazing imo. my last night's try was a failure though because i kept waking up in the middle of the night from bad dreams of kids being kidnapped.

try doing it sitting up. put a fan on to create some white noise. listen to music. I can get into the WILD state pretty easily this way. the hard part is staying there. its so damn exciting when it happens. I havent hooked myself up to an EEG before but I'd say im probobly not techically asleep when it happens. my body just sorta keeps itself balanced and my mind goes of into a complete dream state. I'd say on an eeg it would look similar to stage 1 sleep. either way dont give up. because I've proven to myself it can be done ANYWHERE at ANY time and just about ANY condition... and most certainly in any position. sometimes seriously uncomfortable positions. I find it easier to shift consciousness when my body is strangely contorted. I know that sounds weird but i think to myself if i have a full on out of body experience in the next hour, will i really care about a krick in my neck? the answer is always no and soon im into the world of hypnotic imagery. from there really anything is possible.

WILD works pretty well for me, because I twitch alot as I enter dream-state.

For example, I think about playing a game of soccer as I am lying in bed. Then I start imagining the game, kinda re-living a previous game I played. At some point, my mind's "re-living" of the events becomes, to an extent, constructed. By that I mean that my mind starts to believe that I am playing a game. At this point I am still conscious to some degree. Then, in the game, which is part-dream by this point, the ball may get kicked towards my face. I will physically jerk my head in the bed to avoid this imaginary ball. This sudden movement brings me away from the brink of unconsciousness, and I realise I was dreaming. Then I tell myself "I will have a lucid dream," and this is for me , the best condition to induce a lucid dream.
