      Is this normal?

So I took a nap earlier on the couch. It was probably a good three hour nap. After an hour or so of sleeping, I felt myself starting to wake up. Instead of opening my eyes and moving my body, I said to myself 'hey, I think I should try lucid dreaming right now, remember, i'm aware of everything'. A few seconds after I said this, I felt myself slipping into sleep...and my eyes were going crazy in my head. My vision was starting to get pitch black, and all of a sudden my body jumped up. I was scared and stayed up for a few minutes, before going back to sleep, without being lucid.

Is your body suppose to jump up when you're about to be lucid? .__. My eyes felt so weird, and it was scary. Is this normal? Was I about to black out?
      Thanks.

The transition between waking and sleeping is always unusual, when you're concious during it, there are many weird things that you may experience. This is normal, and there's no reason to worry about it.

      Thanks!
It seemed weird because most the times I try to lucid dream, I'll do a bunch of preparing before I go to sleep.

I heard when you try to go lucid that your body tries tricking you, but I didn't know it would actually jump up.

It sounds like you tried to Wild. A lot of weird eye movements would explain that. As for the jumping up, it could be a muscle spasm, an alteration of exploding head syndrome, etc.
