i tried a fild and something wierd happened. help please.

last night i was trying to fild. all of a sudden my body started tingling and i felt extremely warm. i waited til this passed to try to move so i don't know if it was sleep paralysis. this was the first time this has ever happened to me but i'm fairly new to lucid dreaming [as in haven't made it there yet] anybody ever felt something like that before?

It's SP! And it's good, it shows the onset of a hypnogogic state, which in turn can become an LD. Keep trying, I haven't had an LD either... but I will!

Good progress! I've had 3 LD's and the first time I entered SP it felt like my cell phone was vibrating in my hand and then spread to the rest of my body. I'm not sure about the warmth but SP is different for everyone everynight. After it passed, did you RC?

You're certainly on the right track. That is definitely SP setting in, next time this happens whether you are attempting FILD or WILD or MILD I would suggest not moving and letting the hypnagogic imagery take you into a dream. I've only had one successful WILD (which was an accident) but the vividness of the dreams are much better, because you're going from a waking state to a dream state. Unfortunately mine only lasted about 20 seconds.

I've gotten to SP. Sat there for 2 hours, in SP. Gave up . But I had a very long and easy to remember dream after that failed attempt...

Lucky you! The SP itself isn't bad, I didn't get hallucinations. It's just frustrating to sit there for two hours.

It's WILD with fiddling with your fingers. It's a physical way to try to stay conscious.

basically you just lay down and focus on your breathing for a couple minutes. almost like trying to meditate but you're laying down in a comfortable position. once you feel very calm and relaxed [make sure you don't fall asleep!] you start a repetitive movement, such as barely squeezing your thumb and fore finger together [hence, finger induced lucid dreaming.] it doesn't matter what you do honestly, just so long as it doesn't require much effort. if your hand gets tired then you are doing it to hard. [no pun intended] it should be definetly be less then 5 minutes before something [SP usually] happens.

here's a link to the tutorialhttp://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=36683 i would advise you to read it because i probably forgot something.

If by SP process you mean what happens when you're in SP... well it's just paralysis which sometimes goes with hynogogic hallucinations (i.e. sounds, sights, bad feelings, etc.). After the hynogogic images get more intense, you can "zoom in" on them and enter a LD.

If you mean going into SP... that's WILD.

      okay
I have a question about sleep paralysis

every time I start to go into it, no matter how I concentrate on breathing
or just try to relax, my heart rate goes up, and I come out of it.

how do I stop this, it's really annoying, and gets in the way every time?

like it'll go away as in you eventually get over it
or it'll go away because you don't acknowledge it happenning

either way, I'll try, I'll try

I first had the same problem too. The best method to overcome this obstacle for me was to [U]intensively[U] concentrate on your breathing. Even when your heart feels like bursting, just concentrate on your breathing. You will overcome this one way or another.

I have only managed to get into SP as well, but it's not even full SP, because I can move if I try. But my body turns completely numb and it feels really relaxing. (The first time it freaked me out though, even though I knew what it was.)

I think I almost made it last night, I had gotten into SP, and I could almost feel myself slipping into the dream world but my parents opened my door, sat on my bed, and told me goodnight. I was so mad because it had taken forever to get into that state, and I knew that once I got out of it I'm too tired to get back in.

      that's what happens to me
I can still move, but I can feel myself go numb, and I almost forget my body is there....you just kind of don't acknowledge it's existence...kinda cool if you think about it

last night I got as far as going numb and tingly with some cool HP, but then it faded away
I'm probly just over thinking it

for people who've actually had an LD...am I on the right track...and if you have a failed WILD that night, will you just not get passed the SP, or what
      what happens mon frere?

yeah, that happenes to me every time I do FILD. I like it cause then I dont have to do a reality check right away, cause I know I'm dreaming. I can usually tell when I'm dreaming without doing a reality check, but after I get up and get my composure I do a RC just to make sure.

Last Night, I finally made some progress on having an LD for the 1st time after 2/3 months of nightly attempts. I used "The Five Phases of WILD Tutorial" minus WBTB but using the Breating Relaxation technique. In 1-1.5 hours, I became only partially paralyzed. My arms and half of my jaw muscles were finished but my legs and other stuff were still almost fully movable. Can someone please help me? (I also think I'll try FILD tonight. Wish me luck!)
