Please help! I succeeded with WILD but...

Okay so here's what happened with my first successful WILD:

I was laying in bed and heard deafening tinnitus until all of a sudden I could feel my dream body. I rolled off the bed onto the floor, with my dream eyes still closed. As I opened them, It felt as though things were very bright (it was 8 AM, and I hadn't opened my real eyes in a while) and I felt very unstable on my feet. I rubbed my hands together and the dream realism did seem to increase but I still felt as though my eyes weren't completely opened and seeing, and that I couldn't stand up very well. I turned around and looked at my wall and all of a sudden, with no warning, my REAL eyes opened and I was looking at my REAL wall. UGH!

Any tips/suggestions? I hear that what I had is called "Dream drunkenness" or something, but I've never had this with real dreams or with DILDs.

      Thanks in advance!!!

      Yep - you did it!

Control will come with practice. You know it can be done now, which is huge, and you'll remember the sensations. It sounds like you did everything as right as you could have for a first success.

The big things for me are to calm myself, focus on sensations within the dream world, and then to maintain focus on the world rather than letting my mind wander off, taking me with it. None of these are easy or natural things to achieve when lucid.

N2MDJ, first congratulations on your first WILD!!!

I think part of the problem based on what I have bolded in black is that you weren't "grounded" in your lucidity before you started moving. I know that I am sometimes in a hurry to move as I'm afraid the dream will end before I have a chance to do anything.. big mistake!

If you feel unsteady.. take a moment and stabilize the dream before taking any kind of action. As I've mentioned in other posts, focus on touching something (I mean really "feeling" it) to stabilize your dream. Get into how it feels.. is it hot, cold, smooth, rough, etc.. this also often helps me to remain in a dream longer.

If there's nothing within "feeling" distance.. stare at something until you can make out even the smallest detail or maybe just declare outloud that you will count to 10 and then you will be able to move (and while you're counting outloud.. get into how your voice sounds).

Since this was your first WILD.. just know that your dreams do get better and longer with practice.

Thanks for the responses! I will try the stabilizing advice y'all gave me for my next WILD, but I think my eyes had a lot to do with the failure. It was if I couldn't open them wide enough to actually even see the dream world, and when I tried this I woke up. Very frustrating.

Thanks for the help and I'll use it in my next attempt.
