      how sleep duration affects dreaming

Does anyone know if getting a lot of sleep(7-10hrs), is essential for lucid dreaming?

If you're rested you have better dream recall and lucid dreams are more likely after 7 hours of sleep. But you can use WBTB tecnique.

We'll now that schools out for a few weeks I have gotten some varying amounts of sleep and I mean VARYING.
      1-3 hours, 6-8 hours, 5 hours, 10-12 hours, 16 hours.

Yup I've run the full circle with hours of sleep not to mention being awake for 1,2,3,4, and even 5 days at a time so let me share some of my knowledge.

The shorter amount of sleep you have doesn't give you a very good oppurtunity to go into REM sleep, but I have still had some dreams from short amounts of sleep just saying.

Now when you have about 6-8 hours of sleep this is a very good amount for having dreams possibly 2+ dreams.

Okay if you really want to have some dream session get yourself 12-16+ hours of sleep this is where I notice I have the most amount of dreams with the most lucidity usually 5+ dreams with 4 of them being lucid the first of which I vaguely remember.

So from what I have experienced the more sleep you get, the longer you have been awake, and the more tired you are will allow you to have more dreams with a higher lucidity rate.

Yea, longer sleep tends to improve my recall, and there's more time for dreams, so you see a lot of benefits.

The longer I sleep, especially if I get to sleep in in the morning, the better chance I have of having a lucid dream. Most of my LDs (DILDs) occur in the late morning, and I average 8-9 hrs sleep each night.
