Why is attaining lucidity so hard?

i have great dream recall...i usually remember a dream a night...sometimes more than one, like last night, i remembered 3 of my dreams but i can never get control of myself, like i never have a chance to in my dreams. I want to but in my dream of course things just flow and u dont know ur dreaming and u dont know thats its even u in the dream u really dont know anyting till u wake up. Ive attempted WILD before but i cant do it. Is there any way to become lucid in a dream where u dont know ur dreaming and things just go on?

I think ppl are so tired sometimes, when they dream theyre just relaxig, flowing with the dream, so much so that they forget to remind themselves they are dreaming, that is why ld can be done after 5hrs of sleep, since u are relaxed and rested enouth to concentrate on something else, sometimes while im dreaming, i do know im dreaming, but im too tired to care, and i just let the dream go as it does.

Well do you do reality checks often? If not that could be something you might want to start doing. Are you aware in the dream? In aware I mean do you see things vividly? Are you aware what is going on? Do you see and hear people talking? Do you notice the things going on around you?

If you do in fact notice all of the above that lessens the problem a bit, because if you just keep a look out for things that are odd and are constantly asking yourself if you are dreaming this will most likely cause you to go lucid Reality Checks can also be a great help.

But if you are not aware of anything which I said above that is another problem in itself. You might need to change your mindset before you fall asleep repeating the same thing over and over and over and over. For instance if you said "This Isn't Real" a whole lot of times before you fell asleep right to the point of you falling asleep.

      A) You might just get lucky and have a WILD.
      B) In your dream you might say "This Isn't Real" bringing about a Lucid Dream.

Don't give up hope your bound to become aware and have a lucid sooner or later.

Hi, about doing reality checks during the day. I don't know about other people but for me if I want to see something or do something like reality checks in the dream, I can't do it for the whole day or more than a few times for prolonged periods, I won't do it in the dream at all. I find if I do it for like the whole day for just a day or two, and then stop doing any checks and anything LD related, chances are I can 'induce' the RC or dreamsign at will during WBTB by thinking about it, although not always. I wonder if this applies to others since they do say that only rarely do they actually do the reality check in the dream despite doing so many RCs during the day and for so long.

Remember, once you start to get more than two a week. It starts to get easier, if you keep a good focus on it. It's like you start to get used to the feeling of being in a dream. And it gets easier just to know that your dreaming, without needing a dreamsign or reality check. Until you start doing it almost every night. at least thats how it has always worked for me in the past. Why it takes so much hard focusing to get to that point I am not sure.
but once you get there it's worth the effort.

Reality checks are usually a good way to see if you are dreaming. If a dream is just carrying on by itself and you have no control over it then your chances of doing a reality check are lowered a bit. But if you are carrying on and aware and want to see if you are dreaming or not then it is more likely that you will go and perform a reality check.
