In the spring, me and my best friend both discovered lucid dreaming, and it was all we thought about. We read everything we could, tried every method, exhausted ourselves in every way trying to LD, but there was no success for either of us. We forgot about it.
Recently, we've both been having DILD's. We don't know why (my money's on the reduced stress from the end of school.) While my friend has noted it as a nice piece of closure for a pursuit he lost interest in, I've decided I want to give LD'ing another try.
I've been re-reading all the tutorials, refreshing myself on all the relevant information, and for the past two weeks, I've kept a very stable sleep schedule: in bed at 10:00, asleep by 10:30, waking with the sun to record my dreams.
The summary:
I've decided I want to WILD, and I'm prepared to stick with this until I do.
---
Two nights ago, I made it was far as the "vibrations", where the whole of me shook back and forth, and a bit of SP (my arms and legs, when I did move them at last, felt like they were made of stone.)
I need your help, though, [your name]. I know the technique, but I'm obviously not the most experienced person here. For the next few weeks, I'll be posting my WILD attempts. If you could give me tips, tell me what I'm doing wrong, if anything, that would be very much appreciated.
How I've done it so far:
I sleep from 10:00 to 4:00, when an alarm wakes me up. If I'm feeling an empty stomach, I drink a glass of water, and I return to bed shortly, as I tend to wake up rather fast (if I stayed up for a half-hour, I don't know if I'd be able to relax enough.)
I lie on my back, though this is not my preferred position for normal sleep. I always sleep on my left side (I'll explain another time), though for some reason, when I try to WILD in that position, my head never seems to rest right on my pillow, and neck pains interrupt my concentration.
I remove my covers, as I find I overheat in bed if I don't fall asleep within a short period of time (and of course, WILD'ing takes a long time for beginners.)
I close my eyes and as I breathe, I think to myself,
on the inhale: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5...etc...
on the exhale: I am dreaming.
I don't move until I get to 500, at which point I usually realize I've failed the WILD.
The least you need to know:
Whether boring or not (I don't think they will be), I'll be posting of my attempts at WILD'ing. This thread isn't just about my attempts, it's about what works for you when you WILD. Hopefully, you (dreamviews users who care) can pool your knowledge for the sake of an LD hopeful?
So...
I'm going to try again tonight. I seem to remember reading that you should leave at least three "normal" nights between each WBTB WILD, I'm impatient and convinced I can go farther than I have. I'll post the results in the morning.
Hoping this won't bore you,
Me (who else?)
