      Stupid DILD Question

Hey. I've been trying to lucid dream since the beginning of summer. I'm going back to school in a few weeks and need some help before then. I have had about 5 lucid moments. By that I mean I realized I was dreaming and then woke up, or just had no control. It gets really annoying. All of them have been DILD. I do rc's all day and keep a dream journal with 2-3 entries every day. So recall is not a problem. I go to bed each night with the idea that I will become lucid. So I'm focused on it, I try not to let my mind wander. I feel like I'm doing everything to the best of my ability, but getting no results. I'm conside myself a patient person and and not putting too much stress on having one.

Now every lucid I've had I immediately recognized it was dream as soon as I entered it and I've never actually done a reality check in a dream. This is so random whenever it happens and I was wondering if there is anything else I could do to get this realization more often or if I need to use a different tehnique?

If anyone could offer their input, I would appreciate it.
Why does it seem so hard to wake up now and see who we really are?

Well there is no harm in trying other methods. I would suggest WILD or FILD. If you can remember to do this upon waking up from a dream, you could try DEILD. However your problem seems to be that you can't keep calm after realizing your dreaming. When you become lucid, don't panic. Truly try not to even think for a second to let yourself calm down. If you worry about losing the dream, you probably will. Just relax and KNOW that you WILL NOT wake up. That should help. Post with any more questions or PM me.

(At this point, I've completely lost count. Those are my last accurate stats.)

I very rarely become lucid from a reality check, it's usually just something that I notice that is out of the ordinary. What you should do is stay logical and analyze everything. Make sure that walls are at 90 degree angles to the ceilings, the colours of everything are correct...

Also, go back through your dream journal and look for repeating themes. I now only do reality checks around those themes. (at work, around certain friends.) My adoptee's dream sign is simply water, so it might be very simple, but I'm sure that you will find something that repeats.

I am having this same problem I would just say try more RC's while you are dreaming or try a new method. Hope you get out of your funk.
