Another way of getting a DILD

I was at work today, and I began thinking of how many of my dreams occur at work, which I know is because dreams always seem to occur at a place we usually visit. Also in dreams, we do things we normally do, habits. What if it was a daily activity to realize that you were dreaming? Everyday you would go to work and you would know you were dreaming. Wouldn't you take this behavior to sleep w/ you? Now, its obvious you can't become lucid if your awake, but you could pretend to be, and even try to convince yourself that your dreaming, even if your RCs tell you your awake. Go about your daily business telling yourself that your dreaming. In a way, its like one long RC that goes on all day long and becomes 2nd nature to do if you do it long enough. At least that's my hypothesis... Wadya think? Good idea, or way off?

Hi, yes it will work....I tried it before. It's called dream rehearsal technique, gave me 2 short LDs whithin a week. And I only started using it like a couple of weeks ago. It includes exactly what U describe..doing an RC but only difference is that I only do the RC when a light has failed. So I deliberately rig a light that does not work...my led keychain light and other lights in the house.... I did that exactly only thing was the watch was all zeros and rotating...

Yeah but the problem is do pretend you're dreaming, do RC's and actually MEAN it without your analytical thinking getting in the way.

It's much like reading a mythical story or fairytale: You know it can't be, flying elfs and malicious sorcerer, but you need to sort of "switch off" your analytical thought to allow yourself to stick with the story and read further; assuming it is all real. Maybe a bunch of acting classes would do miracles for this purpose too.
Luminous Spacious Dream Masters That Holographically Communicate
      among other teachers taught me

not to overestimate the Value of our Concrete Knowledge;"Common sense"/Rationality,
for doing so would make us Blind for the unimaginable, unparalleled Capacity of and Wisdom contained within our Felt Knowledge;Subconscious Intuition.

LOL...yes some acting skills is needed for dream rehearsal because it will need to be as realistic as possible. Just pretend Ur Gandalf from LOR for a day... That's how the actor did it anyway... What I did was I acted until the part where I check my watch(set in stop watch mode) and imagined it went crazy and me becoming excited and then CUT...:p.

well what I was thinking was to imagine that everything in my environment was created in my head, and anytime something happened during the day that I know couldnt happen in a dream, (for instance doing one particular task for a long period, or listen to an entire song, or intend to get to a certain place and actually go through the 15 min car ride to get there w/o being randomly diverted or leaving my car in the middle of the street to go talk to some friends) I would tell myself that I shouldn't think that I'm awake, because the second I do, thats when I wake up in my bed feeling like an idiot. Also, I normally don't RC in dreams. I have never had an LD through an RC, only by questioning my reality by thoughts, not actions. If I do something that is so bizarre or even pointless, maybe I might say "whoa, that's not right." and from there I'll just know that I'm dreaming, but the fact is my anylitical mind is off during sleep which is why I might have a DILD every once in a while, but I've really begun to rely on FILD, DEILD, and WILD. And fact is, DILD isn't for everybody, and Im an example. I have a friend that has one every few days, meanwhile, he never knew what lucid dreaming was until I told him. I personally am lucky to get 30% success rate a month on DILD. This is why Im thinking about theories on this all the time. Im trying to get DILDing to be easier so I won't lose 30 min to an hour of sleep a night.

Hi, if thinking that way doesn't interfere with Ur thoughts during the day then it should work cause I also did use Ur technique before only during WBTB but did not become lucid. Instead I questioned if I was dreaming or not or that I am dreaming but don't do anything about it.... I find personally that thinking that way that Ur dreaming interferes with the normal thought patterns and I do feel strain but like if it dosen't affect U that way then Ur in good hands...

As long as you don't start thinking you are actually in a dream when you're awake!

yes, I do think that would be a problem lol. Well I did have a DILD last night. Same thing though, I was just thinking about LDing and I realized that I was dreaming. It is becoming more frequent now, due to the fact that I stopped smoking weed for good and Im thinking also because I have been using this method for about a week now. Im still struggling to find that sweet point when WILDing, you know the amount of awakeness you need to do it w/o either being too awake, or just falling back to sleep. I find myself in the second category unfortunately. So until I find that, I'll stick to this method.
      DILD: 20
      WILD: 0
      MILD: 0
      DEILD: 0
      FILD: 1

Sounds good Blue Haze, I beleive Laberge mentioned this in his ETWOLD book, a technique called "lucid living". By all means try it, sounds like it's giving you some luck already. It almost sounds like by constantly beleiving you're in a dream, your tying a thread to your subconcious from your concious...

Anyway, take care, good luck with WILD, and this as well. Let us know how it goes.
