I have the same thing as Phoenelai. I've never experienced Sleep Paralysis. The few WILDs I've had were always by paying attention to hypnagogic imagery and visualizing things, trying to focus on all five senses, until they suddenly felt real and I was in a dream.
Additionally, this dream was never in my bedroom either. No such things such as awakening in your own body, opening your dream eyes, and all that. Instead I find myself thinking I'm still visualising stuff, until suddenly I noticed that I'm really feeling, really hearing things, and its no longer simply my imagination.
At that point I know I've crossed over into dreaming.
That's how it has worked for me in the past. Though as I said, I've only had a few WILDs, and I'm still practicing this myself.
