I have lately been attempting WILD so that I no longer have to depend on remembering to recognize me dreams.
The last few days I have made 4 attempts to WILD, and this is how they went.
First attempt:
Woke up @ 6 hours. Played a game of War Craft III to get the brain awake, drank a little bit of Coke for the caffeine. Went back to bed in about an hour. Laid there for another hour. Sort of felt the sleep paralysis coming on for a moment but then went away quickly. I waited about 8 minutes but changed position, but I had put my arm in a position that really beginning to hurt (I had ignored the pain for a long time because of the articles on this forum that talks about tricking your body into SP, but it turned out that my arm actually was hurting really bad).
Second Attempt:
Woke up @ 5 hours this time. Used the bathroom. Got back in bed, knocked out (but I did have short, short lucid).
Third attempt:
Woke up @ 5 hours. Stayed awake 30 minutes, dim lights, no caffeine, no games. Used the Saltcube timer to keep myself awake (which I didn't really need it.) Began to get HI, SP began getting intense, and my breathing was weird. Stopped after 10 seconds. I have no idea why because I remain calm during all of this. Waited for 10 minutes. Gave up. Went to sleep.
Fourth attempt: Woke up @ 5 hours. Was awake 5 minutes. Laid there for an hour. Sorta felt some SP. Thats it.
Anyway, any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
1. WarCraft III, cafeine, and 6 hours of sleep? No wonder you couldn't go back to sleep
2. You were too tired. You have to stay up for 15-20 minutes. Instead of video games and Coke, try going to DV for a few minutes. It will get your mind on LDing, without waking you up too much.
3. You were really close from what I can tell. That's the hardest part of the WILD. Sometimes it doesn't work right. All I can say is that you have to find the right balance between being aware enough not to lose consciousness, but not too aware so you don't fall asleep.
4. See #2
I hope this helps, good luck
