Yeh, Seeker, it would have been pretty freaky to see my own name on that tomb stone. I think that after a few seconds of being freaked, I would have just dismissed it as a reflection of my random thoughts and gotten into the flying. I can imagine that some crazy stuff like that could pop up in a lucid dream, but it seems like holding onto the thought that it is just a dream could get you over the scariness.
I'm getting the impression that the best way to go to the landscape of your choosing in a lucid dream is to think about what it looks like and hold onto the thought. A dream is really just what you are thinking about when you are asleep. That technique has been working for me lately. This morning, I was in and out of a lucid dream. I literally watched one of my thoughts while awake with my eyes closed turn into a dreamscape. Recently, I have several times gone places by thinking about what they look like. When I do that, it takes about three seconds for it to start appearing. It doesn't come all at once. It is more like it bubbles up in parts. This morning, I did in a dream something I would do if I could actually travel back in time. I went to Woodstock (1969). My favorite act that played at that festival is Jefferson Airplane, and I got to see them perform at Woodstock in my dream. I was blown away by it. However, I was not in upstate New York. The festival was taking place across the street from an old friend's house in Jackson, yet it was still the original "Woodstock" in a dream world kind of way. I lost track of the performance and then regained it at a park by some water. There were stange birds and other characters watching the performance. I suddenly found myself walking away from the festival and not hearing music. I was walking down the sidewalk of the house where I had just been.
I once saw The Beatles have a reunion concert in a small room, and I was the only person in the audience. Although it was a dream, it was the best live performance I have ever "seen". It was not an LD. I want to revisit that situation soon.
