      (HHIT) Hit Hypnagogic Imagery Technique

      I only read about this technique the other day and i thought it could be a good technique for me because i get hypnagogic Imagery every night. If you don't know what this technique is here is the tutorial.

      Step one
      Try to completely relax. When you go to bed try to let go of any thought processes.
      As thoughts arise...let them go. Acknowledge it as a thought and nothing else. Meaning don't think about the thought. By repeating this, your mind will eventually slow down.
      Try to keep all you muscles relaxed and not tense.

      Step Two
      As you begin to relax close your eyes and observe any visual images that will gradually appear. Don't concentrate on any one image. Just let the images flow and watch how they begin and end.
      You will at first see fleeting patterns and images. As these images progress, they will develop into scenes that become more similar to a dream scene. More complex.
      At this point you are beginning to crossover from a wakeful state into a sleeping state.

      Step Three
      Enter the Dream
      When these images manifest into moving, vivid scenarios allow yourself to passively be drawn into the dream world. Try to maintain a level of awareness so to not fall asleep unconsciously.
      Do not try and actively enter the dream scene. Take a detached interest in the imagery.
      Let your involvement with what is happening draw you into the dream.
      There is a fine line...... Too much involvement may lead you to awake. too little, you will drift of to sleep.
      If you maintain the proper level of awareness you will find that you have just went directly from a waking state to a lucid dream state.

      Anyone had success with this technique or mastered it?

      Hey there,

      I'm sure this exists under several other names as well

      That said, yes, I try this a lot. Not had any real consistent succes with it yet though. The few WILDs I've had were all through this method, but usually, I either fail to fall asleep (when I'm lying in a position I don't normally fall asleep in), or I just fall into non-lucid sleep/dream (when lying in a usual sleep position).

      But I find it relaxing, regardless of whether it gives me any actual wilds or not. And the hypnagogic imagery tends to get very vivid and involving, making it quite interesting for me to do even if it "fails"

      Step three sounds really difficult, trying to take interest but not too much interest.

      I'll give this a go tonight.

      Something that I've noticed lately; if I try this method, a lot of times I snap back to being awake if there are any sounds in the HI (the other night I saw some jars, and when they clinked together I woke up). I need more practice; I'd like to be good at this method.

      I suggest u try Sythix's Visual Attention Technique

      It's like this but u can keep ur eyes open

      Try to focus on the back of ur head, after a few moments u should feel a tingle. THIS is good try to keep the tingle there.. u should get HI

      That happens to me aswell when experiencing HI.

      isn't this supposed to be tried with WBTB? i mean, how well could it work when you first go to bed? considering when you first go to bed, your REM periods are very short. i just figured this would be a much easier thing to do after your REM periods become longer

      It's funny, because that's actually how I fall asleep anyways, save the conciousness of dreaming in step 3.

      Damn. That is exactely the difficult spot, but you don't really describe it. I never get any visual images EVER. No tutorial covers that part. You either get it or you're fucked, there appears to be no way to achieve this....

      The way you make visual images appear is to keep switching the attention of your thoughts every few seconds. It may happen fairly quickly or may take quite a while. I nearly achieved (HHIT) this morning accidentely, i woke up this morning and put on the tv for a bit then decided to try to go back to sleep so i was just lying there thinking of all random things which is normal for me and then all of a sudden i heard these voices from time to time and then i knew it was hypnagogic Imagery. I observed the patterns, voices, and the scenes that were starting to form before me which are always extremely bizzare. I recall i am sitting at a table with two people playing cards and the game ends so this guy asks me if i want to play so i nod my head (i don't talk because i find it very difficult to for some reason) he acts suprised because he thinks i ain't old enough and i am shocked he doesn't think i am old enough. So i decide to talk to say yes which i struggle to say and as soon as i do the scene ends which leads to darkness.

      I notice as soon as i enter the darkness there is a scene all shaped out which looks like my front room so i get excited because i know i am very close to lucidity and almost try to force it which makes the scene disappear.

      This was a strange experience. Can somebody explain why i found it hard to talk in the dream or hypnagogic imagery, i don't know which it was and was it a dream or was i in hypnagogic imagery? Also this has happened a few times before but the other times i recall this happening there was a sensation going through my body and i knew i was entering a dream but every time i have woke myself up which was very difficult.
