Being new, I haven't really dug through old topics. So I apologize in advance if this has already been mentioned.
Basically, as I start to fall asleep, I notice random sensory things just sort of popping into my head. Sometimes its lights, or images of something. But mostly its fractured pieces of a conversation between god only knows who, or just some words or noises. I find that if i pay really close attention to these things, i can remain fully aware as I start to fall asleep, and with any luck, I will begin my dream in near perfect lucidity.
Also, I find that If i imagine myself performing a certain task, for example i like to pretend I am smoking a cigarette. I chose that because it takes about five minutes or so in real life,(enough time to fall asleep.) And because its very easy for me to focus on. As long as i continue to focus on smoking, and imagine myself doing so. The mental image will become more and more real until i am smoking in my dream. I then put it out, and walk off into an easily attained LD.
Hope this can help anyone in anyway.
