      Numb

While WILD-ing my hands get numb, and it's like they are suspended in air. I just wanted to know if SP comes right after this feeling, because I have only been getting this sensation ever since I started.

Also when I am numb my hands, fingers, or legs sort of twitch and jump. Is that normal?

Im pretty sure that numbing feeling IS SP. And yes twitching is normal, I tend to do it a lot when Im in SP. However I can't tell you what happens next because Ive never actualy LD'd.

That's what throws me off. I feel the numbing sensation, but I can move anytime I want.

Thats probably becuase your not in a deep state of SP. Try focusing on clearing your mind. For instance, count backwards or look upwards. Breathe evenly and try not to focus on your body at all. Youll probably start feeling a sinking sensation and maybe start seeing Hallucinations but thats all normal. Another technique is to simply allow the darkness to wash over you, fall into it perhaps. Just imagine that you are going through layers of darkness, each time a blanket of it simply falls over your vision. The world will slowly grow darker and you more absorbed. You'll start to lose all feeling in your body entirely, but don't concentrate on it at all. Simply allow the darkness to continue. You may soon find it hard to breathe, but don't concentrate on it, think of counting and let your body take control of your breathing for you.

Thanks. I just have another question: When looking up do I keep doing it until I'm in SP, or do I do it until my dream starts?

Looking up is something that for some reason helps induce SP. I think it's becuase it keeps your eyes from flickering back and forth too much when can cause your brain to think that your too awake to get into a dream state. By looking up you can trick your brain into allowing your body to fall asleep. I personally find that I only need to look up for a few seconds--if at all. (But Im pretty good at naturally falling into SP). Basically just do it until you don't notice your body anymore. But when you don't, DONT try to notice it. And don't try to move. You can ruin tons of work by moving. I hope this helped!

And don't strain yourself by looking up. Just keep it relaxed.

When do you fall into SP. Like before sleep or WBTB, or anytime?

Wow, it's like a chat session in here
Most people report having better luck getting into SP lying on their back, but it is definitely not required.

I've got another question. I tried to WILD last night, but gave up after 40 minutes. I was lying on my left side, thinking about random crap. The last thing I remember thinking about was Kids in the Hall when SP kicked in. I wasn't expecting it, and had no intentions, and I moved to early and was pulled back out.

My question is do I try WILDing for an hour (cause it took me 40 trying to wild, and 20 on my side.) Or was it because I was not thinking about it?

Im just new here, and im not 100% sure on everything yet (still yet to LD), but when you do WILD arent you meant to NOT think about stuff, let your mind go blank. and thats why counting sometimes helps...it keeps other random stuff off your mind.. am i right coz that what i've been doing?

and does that mean that last nite, during your 40 min attempt, you spent 20 mins on your side? or am i misunderstanding it...?
surely it doesnt mean that because i believe you arent supposed to move at all trying to WILD an u would prolly know that if attempting a WILD.

Yeah I gave up after 40 minutes, and just rolled on my side trying to go to sleep.

I was just thinking about random stuff while on my side, but I was thinking about my breaths during my WILD attempt. It was just sort of reverse last night, and by thinking about WILDS I meant counting my breaths.
