      WILD problems and questions...?

I'v been practicing different forms of WILD everyday, at least 2 or 3 times a day. I'm getting a bit annoyed; I keep getting to the point of seeing faint images appear, before they almost instantly fade away, and I'm back where I started! Argh! It's such a bitch!

How many times did you have to practice WILD until you got into the dream-state? And what kind of WILD technique did you use? Some tips on gaining a successful WILD would be great!

P.S.: Do WILD's require good dream recall? I'd think it wouldn't, since you remain conscious the entire time.

Hey, first this is the wrong subforum for this question, you better ask a moderator to move it up to Attaining Lucidiy, and then hopefully you will get more answers.

As for your question, I'm not an expert on WILD, so I cannot answer.
Anyway, I wish you luck on your WILD attempts.

I firmly believe that EVERYTHING related to lucid dreaming, whether via DILD or WILD, is strongly linked to dream recall. Although it might seem that dream recall is not directly needed to WILD, the underlying principles of dream recall certainly are. Those principles are paying attention to your dreams, understanding your own dreams, recognizing which elements are part of your dreams, etc etc. Without the basics of 'dreaming' in general, it would be very hard to move on to 'lucid dreaming', which is a specialised form of dreaming.

That'd be sort of like trying to run without being able to walk. You just end up falling flat on your face

      Anyways, that's my 2 dreamycents,

When you see images they will disappear if you try to look at them with your eyes. They're not really there remember. Keep your eyes still, almost as if you're trying to see past your eyelids.
If you think you can't, you're right.

Thanks guys, I had the same problem. I would get to seeing images/shapes/colours and nothing eventuated, untill I just finally fell asleep not focussing on anything.
I was trying to look with my eyes I think, cos they were fidgeting a lot.

One other question in WILD, when first going to sleep, do you do anything other than relax and tell yourself you will be dreaming, or is that only after the getting up part of WILD and then trying to get into SP and whatnot.

DreamChaser: I'm assuming you're talking about WILDing in the middle of the night. Things work differently for different people, I would just focus on actually waking up in the middle of the night and not worry what you tell yourself when you originally go to sleep, it's not really going to matter.

Adam: I'm not really an expert on the subject, I mostly DILD but have had 2 proper WILD experiences. It took me ages of practicing and waking up trying it every night and getting frustrated like you are. Then all of a sudden it just happened. My tip is forget about afternoons and start of the nights, it's just too much to ask for.

Dream recall in general does help if you naturally don't remember much. Thinking about these experiences reminds you of what dreaming is in relation to not dreaming, if that makes sense. I think having the mind's attention on the concept of lucid dreaming helps greatly in general, even with WILDS. My two cents is relax as it doesnt happen over night, and think about how easy it is to WILD. It sounds stupid but most people on the forum have described how they tried really hard and got nothing, only to relax and be surprised with their first experience.

Hope some of this helps, good luck with your wilding, let us know how it goes!

      Thanks.
Also I seem to wake at intervals I set my vibrate phone to and just wake for a minute, try to remember the dream, and go back to sleep because I want to get it back too much.
Most times I have a different dream and sometimes I continue a previous one in a different scene of it (Like a movie).
Is that wrong? Should I get up each 90 minutes for 5-10 minutes, or is mentally going over and remembering the dream for a minute and going back to sleep ok?

im not experienced at wild...lots of failures and 0 success..BUT as with all methods ...if you make them stressful and so intensive you most likely will have no success..

2-3 times a day? how do you find the time....even 1 wbtb WILD every day of the week would make me so tired I would loose all my recall.

I might propose have a week without WILD attempts...get good sleep habits, keep a dream journal and then have a shot...I found this helpful too
