      quick WILD question...

Whenever I read about people talking about WILDs, they're always laying on their back. is there any specific reason for this? does laying on your back aid in WILDing for some reason? all the WILDs I've had have been while laying on my back.

Apparently laying on your back makes it much easier to imagine yourself falling, and generally results in a lighter sleep(aka easier to maintain consciousness).

Not sure...but based on my own recent experience, I think it's because the sensation of your body slackening and sinking as you fall asleep is amplified when you're on your back, and it's the memory of having fallen asleep that allows you to notice you're dreaming once you start dreaming. You can feel gravity pulling your body down as your muscles become paralyzed and your sense of orientation goes away. On your side, with a much smaller body area being pulled against something other than the cells in your own body, which you don't feel, it might be harder to get that memorable sinking feeling that alerts you to the fact that you're a minute or two away from Dreamland.

No dream goals at the moment...just flying and letting stuff happen is kinda fun, and it's hard to motivate myself to try LDing lately.

I try not to do WILDs on my back anymore. I read (on wikipedia I think) that studies have shown that you are more likely to have hypnagogic hallucinations while lying on your back. I haven't actually successfuly WILDed though, so that might be my problem

I find it easier on my back that way it allows air circulation around the limbs because sometimes it gets so hot, also its easier because if your on your side you might want to move as the blood rushes to one side of your head or you just start to ache because your in one position. (This all happens to me when I try to WILD on my side)
