      Dark Retreat

Has anyone tried a Dark Retreat? Its basically locking yourself in a dark room (with a bed and someone outside to push food under the door) for days on end, and it seems like a sure-fire way of inducing lucidity!!! I read about this in a book on the Tibetan Bon tradition - they do it, under supervision and within a whole context of dream yoga. The author did a 49 day retreat and had some pretty spectacular results. I guess this is another way of (majorly) upsetting sleep patterns by confusing night and day, and through some serious resting, sleep would become lighter as well.

Well i think you do that long enough, you'll not only induce LD's, but complete insanity. I'd use a more sane method.. solitary confinement is not really a good thing

Thanks for your reply. Hmmm... what would be incomplete insanity? Insanity is on the whole defined only in relation to the dominant mind-set - the schizophrenic in one society might be a medium in another.

I agree that solitary confinement is 'not a good thing' (!!!!!) but a voluntary act would be completely different. Most mystical/ shamanic traditions utilise retreats of one kind or another...

BTW I am not suggesting that people try it, as in: Attaining Lucidity -method no. 345 - TDRM (The Dark Retreat Method)

I say.. if you have the time, no friends, no commitments, and are really pissed that you can't get an LD an easier way.. go for it!

lol No but seriously, I've heard of these methods for one thing or another and they definitely produce results.

      ...

Watch...the forum suddenly becomes empty for a month as everyone actually does it.

Good. You and I can spend a month posting OFF TOPIC THREADS all over the place and they won't be moved or deleted!!! MWAHAHA!!!

If you're too lazy, go get yourself kidnapped. Maybe they'll throw you in a dark room while waiting for the ransom, thereby practically forcing you to develop your LD skills!

Thats exactly what I was thinking when I read that
AFAIK, it should work. But if you are in a position like that, you are either very fortunate or very unfortunate
