      Post My First Attempt

I think this is the correct place for this topic.

(Hi, I'm new to this forum)

I tried the FAT technique last night for dream incubation. It didn't work but there were some odd things that happened. For it, I used my U3 jump drive as the 'anchor' to the real world. I wanted to try hugging a friend because it's a rather simple task and I like to hug. What happened was:

      1. I started having twitches. I suppose that's normal (I read about that somewhere in here, I think).

      2. Eventually, I got to a point of picturing the jump drive that I acutally saw a faint outline and coloring of it in the darkness of my closed eyes. Then I saw the friend that I wanted to hug.

      3. For a couple minutes, the darkness of my closed eyes seemed to gain a depth. It was as though my eyelids were pulled out a little, forming a dark space. It was odd and I felt my heart race.

      Is all this normal?

Anyways, I think it didn't work because of a few things. For one, I kept getting a song stuck in my head. When I got started a song was playing itself but as I got more drowsy it went away. Then when I was really into the near-sleep stage, the "Blue Danube Waltz" started. Another thing could have been that I got uncomfortable and had to move from laying on my stomach to being on my left side. Then I moved 180 degrees to my left side. Finally, I don't think I pictured the jump drive glowing green enough.

That whole experience, although unsuccessful, was interesting. If I get any solutions I'll probably try again.

I have used a similar technique and different stuff happens everytime. I've only had one LD so far. The way it worked for me was to repeat stuff about becoming lucid to myself to keep my mind awake. I did it for like an hour and a half and all off a sudden I was lucid! However, I didn't slip into the dream. It was a DILD. So anyways, different stuff seems to happen every time if you are staying concious. You are doing RC's and keeping a Dream Journal right???

I've been keeping a dream journal for a while, but my reality checks haven't been quite that stable. I do some though I probably could try to work on that.

Thanks for the response. I noticed the little arrow on the thread icon. Does that mean this was moved? Wouldn't make sense that I can read it here.

A couple other things happened. Two nights ago, I tried FAT again and I think I started having sleep paralysis. I felt my knees start to get heavier and at one point I moved my right arm and the elbow seemed numb and for a while after moving it there was something like a creeping sensation.

I keep getting music stuck in my head! I've heard listening to the song makes it go away but this happens to me when I'm really in bed and I don't think my parents would appreciate me listening to my mp3 player in the middle of the night.

I tried MILD last night. It didn't work. Somehow I can't seem to have that extra amount of concentration. I'm going to look up DILD, see what that it.

I always get music stuck in my head, but my problem is falling asleep so it helps me.
