just tried the "how to trick your body into falling asleep" guide

      http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...highlight=pain
i just tried this guide and it went well to start with. i had no trouble staying still, my eyes were flickering slightly but i could keep them closed, then suddenly i had this feeling in my stomach. you know when you are on a roller coaster or swinging really high on a swing, and as you go down you get that WHOOSH in your stomach? thats what it felt like. and my heartbeat sped up really fast. i could literally hear it. is this good? i didnt get any further than that because my mum called me down for tea.

That is a normal thing, that happens the few first times you attempt to enter SP consciously. It will go away, once you get more used to a "detached" body. I'd say maybe 5 another succesful enterings should do it. Don't think too much of it. You can always stop, and try again later, if it gets too intense.

wicked! progress after only knowing about this for a few days I didn't feel detached from my body (i dont think anyway) it just felt really intense heartbeats and i was having to force my eyelids shut. Gonna try it again in a while. gonna try switching my light off and lying in total darkness for half an hour before trying again.

I love the feeling, it's very rare, like you're being converted into raw energy or something :O

The first time I tried this I was fully awake, yet my body felt like it was completely asleep. I did not feel spiritually intuned in any way, nor could I feel myself leave my body, not could I attempt to pull into a LD. I kept telling myself, "my mind is awake, my body is asleep" - well it certainly worked besides me not being able to go to sleep since my mind was awake... What advice could be provided?

It's not easy, but don't give up! Try looking up some meditations. I really like using the meditations from Shakti Gawains book, "Creative Visualizations". I enjoy the physical sensations of a successful meditation.

Don't worry about trying not to swallow and staying still. Focus on relaxing. Breathe normally but slowly. The nice thing about having a meditation to go through is that it gives your mind something to focus on.

i tried again last night. i kept my whole body still and counted my breaths. every single time after a few minutes i would suddenly realise i am thinking about something completely random and have lost count. getting annoyed. i read somewhere that you should have your arms by your side. i have had mine on my stomach could that be a reason why i havent gotten anywhere yet? im sure i had my arms by my side the first time i tried and got a lot further than atm. ill try again tonight. thanks for the replies

edit - i just read in this guide that people sometimes have trouble keeping their eyes closed during the transition into a dream. does this mean that i was in the transition phase and very close to lucid dreaming?

What I do to enter a dream from SP is kind of to roll into it.
I roll my dream body out of my real body (I can feel it tingle as it separates) and into a dream.
I usually still feel like I'm in my bed when I open my dream eyes, but I just use a RC and carry on.

i havent managed to successfully WILD myself...but one of the most valuable progressions i've made is...

don't "try NOT to swallow". Focussing on your throat/swallowing only distracts you; and makes swallowing way more likely.

Swallow if you need. don't resist. its like saying "dont breathe, if you can" Swallow as needed, and you will forget about it: guaranteed!

      Hi st nick5,

I to have found the urge to swallow while while attempting a WILD. I find that as I relax I allow my whole face and jaw to relax. Just let your jaw fall open slightly and breath in through your nose and out through your mouth gently the way you would if you were actually asleep.

I find that the front of my tongue then kind of sticks itself to to the roof of my mouth and the need to swollows disappears, as I think any excess saliva will just run down your throat naturally kind of like the way it can sometimes leak out of your mouth and on to your pillows if you wake up and have been sleeping on your front..... or does that only happen to me?

Make sure that your print out & read the WILD tutorials by Clairity, Seeker and Billybob, then try to work out by trial and error what is going to work best for you and adapt it to fit your own individual needs. Don't get impatient with the process, you will get there eventually with practice.

      Keep It Lucid, Sold Air.
