Lucid Dreaming Tips for a Stupid Dreamer?...

I'm stupid in my dreams Seriously. Like, I have absolutely no control over my dreams, and even when they're at their most vivid and weird I have no idea I'm dreaming (and they get pretty dang vivid and weird...I'm gonna post two of them see for yourself ) Even if I do think I'm dreaming (and I think it's happened before), I never fully realize it and go lucid, that's how stupid I am in my dreams. I literally just flow with them helplessly. So yea, I'm far from achieving lucidity. I know how to get vivid, fairly memorable dreams (eat right before bed...particularly chocolate...but meat causes nightmares and don't take a painkiller right before bed unless you're a masochist or something *sweatdrop*) But since I'm helpless and have literally zero control in my dreams, that doesn't bring me much closer to achieving lucidity. A little closer, but not much.

I've read tips about looking at your palms or looking for dream signs and this will prove to you that your dreaming...but frankly I don't know how I'm supposed to know to do that in the first place if I don't even know I'm dreaming and am too stupid and helpless to take a moment to look at my palms. Even if I did and proved to myself I was dreaming, I'd be like "I'm dreaming...moving on" and I'd just keep flowing in the dream with no control and probably forget that happened

Once, just once, a few months ago, I had a dream in which I actually realized "Hey! I'm dreaming!" but my heart jumped and I woke up.

So, what do I do to get the gumption to prove to myself I'm dreaming without overexerting myself and waking up? (Keep in mind I am freaking stupid in my dreams )

I'm an idiot in dreams as well.

I'd say, practice reality checking throughout the day and eventually reality checking should carry over into the dream state, almost as a habit.

Me too -- i'm a mindless freak in my dreams. But when i get lucid, i can think clearly!

Just start doing RC's every half an hour or so, you're bound to do one in a dream and realize you're dreaming. And then your dream-dumbness will fade. Don't forget to do one every time you see something strange as well.

      Change your attitude first.
Stop emphasizing so much about being stupid. Sure everyone's an idiot in their dreams sometimes, but if you make such a big deal about it, I think it starts working against you because dreams are all about what you believe and expect.
Look at kids for inspiration - if they thought they were stupid because they can't walk like everyone else – they would never learn how to walk! And think about how many times they fail before they succeed. And you too were once that kid with absolute confidence in yourself. Think about that.
It's just a learning process. So keep on trying and practising and above all instead of convincing yourself that you're stupid, be confident that you can do it. Like I said – dreams are all about what you believe.

      1 - rigorous Dream Journalling
      2 - Thorough observation
      3 - constant reality checking
      4 - confidence

and rubbing/observing your hands is a lucid stabilising thing; not a lucidity method. you are supposed to do it ONCE lucid.

Number 3 is particularly important for you. Should put you into control, as opposed to being a "lucid spectator" (to coin a phrase). It seems you can realise you are dreaming...but without proper reality testing...this will be fruitless.

      goodluck

I just had some really vivid dreams last night but... in terms of stupid dreaming.. I would leave one dream, and RECOGNIZE I had been dreaming in the current dream, but I wouldnt realize that that TOO was a dream. It was like that for every dream, always one behind !!!!

That's frustrating...a bit akin to a false awakening huh?

I guess I need to get into the reality checking

Hi, U shouldn't call Urself stupid. Ur subconcious have ears and will not be happy with that. U should give Urself hope and credit for trying at all at lucid dreaming. I try to please my subconcious the best way I can by giving it what it wants like which RC it likes and which dreamsign it wants to use rather than using what "U" think is logical or will not work or crazy.

Thanks, I'm getting the hope of a future lucid dream up. I want to have one. I have a pretty logical mind in waking life, not very stupid, so if I can just get that to carry over into dream life that'll be great

I know what you mean — I consider myself a very logical person, but we can do the most bizarre things in dreams and not recognize them at face value. Last night I jumped onto a moving 'dropship thing', killed the pilot with a grenade, and then jumped out as it crashed. No way in hell I could do it in real life, but it was so cool my mind just went with it.
