      Meditation ! Questions ! =P

      Hello people !

      I was thinking about practicing meditation for a long time, because I heard that it has various effects and they're all good and they make your life better in a way.

      I heard that meditation helps you to "know" your mind, put some discipline in your mind, so that it's easier to control it and that looks like something that can come in handy. I have ADD and sometimes...wait, I have to quote an emote from World of Warcraft...."Sometimes I have troubles controling the volume of my mind !"

      Anyway, what I wanted to say it that with ADD, it's hard to control my mind sometimes, ie. when I really need to concentrate on something that doesn't look very interesting. But don't get me wrong, I don't see ADD as a disorder, I see it as a gift.

      So...the reason I started this thread under "Attaining Lucidity" topic is because I believe that meditaion can help me a lot with controling my mind, and therefore, with controling my awareness in the dream state, correct me if I'm wrong.


      I would like to start practicing meditation, but I don't exactly know how to do it, so, if anyone can explain me how to do it and what do I need to know about meditation and if it has any effects on attaining lucidity, please do it.

      I have ADD and i think thats why i cant get to SP, because of the rampaging thoughts.

      Meditation is simple, and one of the most overlooked practices everyone should incorporate into their everyday lives. It's good to set up a meditation space, somewhere you can't be disturbed. Sit with your back straight, feet flat on the floor or if you're sitting on the floor, with legs crossed or in the lotus or half lotus position.

      Begin to focus on your breath. Your mind will wander, this is ok. Try not to become emotionally involved in your thoughts, just let them come and go. You can also try to clear your mind completely by gently refocusing your attention on your breath.

      There's tonnes of other meditations to try, but start with these ones. They'll provide you with a solid foundation for any future techniques you try.

      Aye, I've had a lot of problems with relaxing because of that.
      Btw, I love the way you called it..."rampaging thoughts"...that's exactly how I feel sometimes, I want to relax, and my thoughts won't let me go.

      I've tried a few different ways of meditating and found this to be the most comfortable one http://www.mro.org/zmm/teachings/meditation.php

      I haven't been meditating for very long, so I don't have alot of advice to give though.
