      Trouble with WILD/SP

Hi, I've been reading these forums fairly consistently for the past 8 months or so, but never really bothered making an account, because I never really had anything to ask/answer.

Unfortunately, I've only had about 2 brief instances of lucidity during that time

I've tried several techniques, the most frequent being WILD, because it is the most convenient for me, and I've gotten the closest to a full lucid dream this way.
My main problem at the moment is attaining SP so I can successfully continue with WILD.

I was always able to begin to induce SP since I began experimenting with lucid dreaming, but have never successfully followed through.
I'm able to reach the vibrations, numbness all over, ringing/pressure in head, when suddenly it stops.
My heart rate randomly increases, my chest tightens, and it feels like I'm suffocating. In other random/odd cases I get an erection [awkward ] or some other distraction arises. I always am fully aware, and keep telling myself to stay calm, and keep my steady breathing, but nothing seems to work. The vibrations fade, and the numbness stays until I move. I have to get up, roll over and start over in order to try to induce SP once more.

I'm SO close. I know I can do it, but my body flips out at go time.

All and any advice is welcome, so by all means, lay it on me.

      Thanks bunches =]

From how you've described it, I don't think that was SP just yet. Try to keep going next time and see what happens.
Success comes to those who are not afraid of failing.

Sounds like you're focusing more on the SP sensations than actually lucid dreaming. And those sensations don't sound too pleasant to begin with.

Perhaps you should try another technique that isn't so SP oriented?

Same thing happens to me, but with less feelings. I get tingly feelings/rush feelings. Awareness goes up. but then it fades. I know it's not full sp because i can move in it. Although i just move my fingers, i never really try to move more then that. Tips anyone?

The other methods haven't produced any better results.
I'm trying to induce SP to attempt WILD after, because I can easily begin the process of SP, but am not able to follow through completely. That's where I need help.

I'm trying my hardest not to focus on the sensations, but the suffocation one seems to get me every time.

Do keep in mind that you don't have to achieve SP before sucessfully doing a WILD. I've had many spontaneous WILDs by now, all of them without SP. But SP does make doing a WILD easier.
