So that's why HI always fades away! That's the best peice of information I've read all day. Thanks Sasuke, remind me to kill Naruto next time he has a go at you or does that shadow clone thing he's obsessed with.

This is very interesting. I really need help with not blinking. Will it be easier to not blink in total darkness or after a few hours of sleep or do I just keep practicing?

Wow, I used to do this often, laying in bed with my eyes open, until everything disappeared. I've never come across anyone else who experienced it, but I see from the post and the responses that I'm not alone. I've never used it to WILD though, but I do recall I would tend to have some vivid Dreams when I did it. I'm glad I came across this, I'll be trying it.

I don't like propaganda techniques that exaggerates the title of a given technique(Like that "My technique keeps working" I've seen around here), although blacking out is original, you can't really say "improved" unless it is improved.

Btw, found that reply in the Just Pray topic in case you've forgotten(remembered seeing that when I saw the glittery of your topic name). I did say 95% in one of my old topics, I'll admit, but I used actual statistics.
      I stomp on your ideas.

It's really not that easy. After about five minutes your eyes will be watering and you will be straining to keep them still.

I posted this for all your sake's and benofit. okay? That "just pray" technique worked amazing well for me, IM a natural DILD'er.. i was just experimenting with WILD's at the time i found out about this.. And later on in the year i decided to re-write this techinique for some other people to test it out.. problem?

Wow, you don't have to be so literal. Just cause he has it in there doesn't mean you have to disect the whole thread.

      Hi,

So I tried this technique last night, and after a couple of attempts I managed to start keeping my eyes blacked out for quite long periods of time. Like I mentioned before, I used to do this a while back, but last night I actually started seeing imagery while my eyes were blacked out (but still open). I've never had that happen before. At some points it was really quite vivid too, and if I had been able to maintain it longer I may well have been able to WILD from that point. Unfortunately, not too long after closing my eyes I started to lose concentration, but I was particularly tired, maybe a bit too tired.

I'll keep trying though. I didn't get lucid, but the Dreams I had were interesting enough...

I really dont understand how you can not blink for 5 mins....do you keep your eyes barely open?? Or how long does it take for your eyes to black out?

I think it varies from person to person. If I lay down on my front, get comfortable and relax, then relax my gaze, it usually takes under a minute for my sight to black out. I find there are things that make it more difficult for me, like if I try doing it while laying on my back, or if I'm looking in an upwards direction (because my eyes end up open more widely). If there is a draft, this also makes it more difficult. All these things tend to cause my eyes to dry out more quickly and get too uncomfortable to proceed.

I tend to lay on my front or side, looking straight ahead or in a downwards direction, or if I'm really having trouble, I'll cover my head completely with the covers so the air is more humid, if you get my meaning. Also, be sure to try it in a nice dark room, I find this speeds up the time it takes for black out to occur. I hope this helps.

I assure you, it can be done

As soon as I start to do this technique, my eyes start watering heavily. Anything I can do about it?

      Question

I'm really interested in this technique becuase I usually see a lot of HI. However, last night, when I attempted it I had a few problems. The biggest issue I faced was finding something to let my eyes foccus on. My room was pretty close to pitch black, so it seemed like I didn't have anything to look at that wasn't already black. I tried just staring in just one direction, but I couldn't tell if my eyes were moving becuase I didn't have something specific to look at. I know this thread is a little old, but if anyone has some suggestions or guidance to offer, that would be great!

      I think I'll try this.

I like keeping my eyes open.

I usually don't fall asleep easily anyway.

Sasuke, how do you "spin" images?

This seems good, i might try it.

I use to do this when i was younger but in a place with good ilumination. Found it fun because after a while i would start seeing stars and cloud-like things moving on my visual field and the vision would go totally white from the periphery to the middle without me being able to see anything anymore at a point.

Never tried it on the dark and with the purpose on mind of WILDing. I got to try it as i've tried other techniques and i never got to the HI part (i think i went to the SP part though).

How am I to focus my eyes? I don't get it.

Should I let them go out of focus like one of those magic eye 3d pictures?

I'm lying there like for a while but in the end I go for a DILD aaaaand.
