I don't know if this can help but sometimes I have dreams where outside noises get perfectly translated into my dream and I hear them while they are going on but it doesn't wake me. Try listening to music while you sleep or put head phones to reduce yoru sensitivity to outisde noises. Or buy ear plugs. |
|
Maybe shut your door or something? |
|
put on some music or something thats low and relaxing enough to calm you down. or find an isolated part of the house that's the quietest and sleep there. |

Curiosity killed the cat but at least it didnt die an ignorant bastard
I have tried shutting the door but my parents are always talking really loud or nagging me to get up. |
|
There is not part of my house where you can't hear my parents talking. |
|
tell them nicely to shut up....and why are they waking you up?! aren't you on summer vacation? and dont you're parents have to go to work? |

They wake me up because they don't want me to like be sleeping in till 2:00pm or w/e because I will if they don't wake me up. Plus, they are always talking REALLY loud and it annoys the heck out of me and I can't remember my dream. Also,my mom doesn't work in the mornings on Saturday and Sunday. And my dad is home every morning and he is always coming into my room "Get up Lauren" "Don't sleep in this late" You better get up" "Are you still sleeping" ugh...its so annyoing and it stops me from remembering my dreams |
|
would you able to do the tent thing? get some ear muffs and wear them when sleeping. Or how about use the WBTB method in fooling your parents that you're awake and then tell them you're taking a little nap after an hour or an hour and a half |

Why dont you try telling your parents what you're trying to do? Would they be understanding? |

Well,I just want to be able to remember my dreams in the morning but there is sooo many distractions. |

I had that same problem before we moved to our new house....And I usually get up before them anyway. Try using a fan in your room to try and blot out at least some of the noise. Just don't use one of those super-quiet fans. If you have to, get the $8.00 fan from Wal-Mart or whatever. Then, if your parents wake you up intentionally, make sure your dream journal is close at hand. Respond to them briefly (so they know you're not still asleep/ignoring them) and then reach for your journal. Then make a quick outline of the dream you had and then as time allows fill in the details later. |

Well,I do have a fairly loud fan. I'll try turning that on the block out the talking, doors opening nd closing, and the television. |

I get the same problem with being woken up but in my house its by my kids waking me up, I think the best way to get more sleep is to rearrange your sleeping petterns so you go to bed earlier and then if others in the house are up early its not such a big problem because you have still had plenty of sleep. |
|
Yeah, just get yourself extremely tired (ie, excercise a lot, go out for a long walk, play some basketball, etc. etc. [for one day]), and then go to sleep at very early, say 6 or 7 o' clock PM (even earlier, the hard day will make you sleep late). You should wake up a few hours before anyone else. Try to time yourself so wake up, at most, a half-hour before anyone in your house. A half hour is plenty to write down dreams. Just experiment, weigh the times, etc. |

LOL, I used to have problems like this. At one point I started subconciously wake myself up and jump out of bed when I heard my parent's doorknob turn in the basement (It squeaks a lot) and pretend to get ready, but I still had horrid dream recall, so I started getting up at 5:00 during the school year. During the summer I'm a little more lax about waking up early, since my parents don't bug me. Still, a good tip would be to wake up all at once. If you wake up in the morning and still feel drowsy, still get up at least long enough to write in your dream journal. If you go back to sleep you won't have as many dreams, with much less clarity and almost no recall. |

I have the same problem... kinda. I solve it by setting an alarm for 6am when I update my Dream book. This is effectively waking up an hour before everyone else, except after Ive update my Dream book I go back to sleep. This is what led me on to doing WBTB |
